BANGKOK, 13th May 2017 (NNT) - Security forces have raided a nightclub in the Thonglor area following reports of the club extending its operating hours.

Soldiers and officers from Thonglor Police Station inspected ZION Night Club in Sukhumvit 55, locally known as Thonglor in Wattana district. The search was made as a number of residents had complained about the noise made by the discotheque which they also claimed often stays open longer than the closing time required by the law.

The raid occurred at 2.45 am which was later than the legal closing time but the place was still packed with both male and female customers. It was found that ZION Night Club operates without a license. The manager was taken to the police station to face legal charges.

The military is preparing to cancel the club’s liquor sales license and impose a five-year closure on it, invoking the National Council for Peace and Order’s order no. 22/2559.

What a boring, dull and sterile place they are tying to turn Bangkok in to.

Meanwhile, in other threads we have guys ranting about the noise keeping them awake at all hours of the day and night.

Ya just can't satisfy some people...

Amazing Thailand, every time I have called up the City Hall to complain about ridiculous noise levels the results have been absolutely zilch !

Yes, but there are rich and influential people living on and around Suk 55. Maybe you don't qualify

So,I take it that you don't live here.If you are looking for a place with no laws or a place where the "TOURIST" comes first over the locals and must be accommodated to his whelms then please leave. We don't need you here.

I am not stupid to live in a place with bars and clubs - never understand people who move into areas like that then complain about the noise

Maybe the residents were living there before the club opened ?

How can you obtain a liquor sales licence IF you have no operating licence??

you must be new in Thailand?

A licence means : have you paid the appropriate maffia ? in time ?

yes, very dull....al those normal people who can not sleep at night ,school children who have to wake

up at 6 am to go to school, how dull is this .

Solution to you: go live next to a loud karaoke -bar ?or an illegal party house ? It will keep you up all night

........never a dull moment.

With your  comment  you made yourself loose your face for ever........

Simple....move. Remember, TIT. It's not the Wild Wild West. Don't be stupid and buy property in Thailand. Just give your landlord notice and move to a new place.

Bangkok has absolutely no city planning. This is why incidents like this always happen. I would be angry too if I was a resident.

In a planned city there would be designated areas for entertainment and designated areas for residential.

But not in Bangkok nor in Thailand. If u have enough money and influence, you can build 50 storey hotel in small soi of 8 storey condos or build a house then told the next day a highway is coming through it...

Yup. No planning at all. I know of a nice apartment building on Suk soi 50 that found itself facing the construction of a major highway ramp right across its bow. Also know of a small, cool independent Thai pub on Suk soi 16 that got closed due to complaints from personnel of a certain Western embassy.  You can't even describe the situation as patchwork zoning because the city is a total mess.
