Deputy police commissioner Srivara Ransibrahmanakul, seated at center, speaks Tuesday afternoon at Royal Thai Police headquarters in Bangkok.

BANGKOK — Senior police on Tuesday drew links between the bombing of a Bangkok hospital to coordinated bomb attacks in the capital in 2007 the junta of that time blamed on supporters of Thaksin Shinawatra despite evidence they were carried out by southern separatists.

Deputy police commissioner Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said Monday’s bombing of Phramongkutklao Hospital, which injured at least 25 people, bore the same hallmarks of nine New Year’s Eve attacks that hit Bangkok on the last day of 2006, which killed three people.

What on earth were the Govt intelligence services doing before the hospital bomb? Instead of doing useful work monitoring terrorists, they were probably too busy trying to close down Facebook and various other innocuous websites which happen to host photos which really belong in the "People of Walmart" category.

And instead of investing money in training a corps of counter-intelligence professionals, they spend billions on submarines.

A few more blunders, and the resemblance to African despots of the 80's would be increasingly justified.

I also read that police were tipped off days before that someone might plant a bomb in a hospital. Police said they were looking into different locations.

Can't help but feel that that's all BS. Pretending they even have any intelligence. Sad truth is that it's hard enough to prevent bombs going off as it is. Especially when you don't have a clue and are feckless in your job.

The intelligence services were busy arranging the bomb.

The hunt is on in earnest but not for the bombers it seems. The search appears to be focusing on any old straws sitting around just waiting to be grasped.
