VPN in Thailand

Lots of VPN discounts now, looking at Disconnect at 49$ usd lifetime. Normally I loathe lifetime purchases, like fitness centers - its not your lifetime, but until the company folds. But hey...b1500...

 

Would you trust this provider apps/prog and VPN in general (phone, tablet, laptop) for banking over public WiFi?

 

Any laws against using VPN in Thailand?

 

How much of traffic speed decrease might I expect? I tried a VPN in States, was ridiculously slow (2yrs ago).

 

What other uses might I have for it? Streaming, torrenting, extra level of security buying anything online...

Speed bad sometimes overseas. But works if you not always expect HD.
IPTV can sometimes also struggle. Internet is still in a develop mode.
