BANGKOK: -- A building of Pathum Wilai School in Pathum Thani’s Muang district has been sealed off as a safety precaution after heavy rains on Sunday caved in part of the roof and damaged six classrooms on the third floor.

Authorities were called in to inspect the building amid fears that sections might collapse.

School director Weerapong Kloydee said the roof of the three-storey, 42-year-old building caved in under pounding rain at 5.30pm on Sunday while he and three teachers were in the school compound.

He said he had reported the damage to the relevant agencies and barred students from entering the building. Teachers and students whose classrooms were affected will have their classes in other buildings while the damage is being assessed.
