FORMER national police chief Pol General Poj Boonyachinda died early yesterday at the age of 80, according to his family.

His son, famous singer Phunkorn “Dunk” Boonyachinda posted Poj’s pictures on his Instagram message saying that the police ex-chief died of a heart attack at 2am at the Bangkok Hospital. “I love you the most, Dad. You will be missed forever. Take a good rest,” Phunkorn’s farewell message said.

A royal-sponsored bathing rite will be held at 4pm today at Wat That Thong. Funeral services will be held from Sunday till June 17.

Poj had been treated for illnesses for a few years before his latest trip to hospital.

Separately, on Friday night, former justice minister Prapasna Uaychai passed away. He was 92 years old.

Prapasna was justice minister in 1991 during the post-coup government of prime minister Anand Panyarachun. He had served as rector of Thammasat University from 1977 to 1982.
