88.20 percent of the respondents said they would go to the polls and 76.96 percent said they would elect good people into the parliament.

So 23.04% said they would elect bad people?

Once again, did 33.79% feel the opposite way?

Good politicians are like unicorns.   The best one can hope for is to elect a politician who does very little, allowing populous to manage their own lives without too much interference.  It is nice if they do not steal too.

"...76.96 percent said they would elect good people into the parliament."

"GOOD" as in the people who promise to fulfill my selfish desires, even though if I thought rationally, there is no way those promises could ever be achieved.

A selfish electorate begets a selfish government.

But how and who defines "good people"?

I remember that before the last government was elected the head of the army said publicly that the people should elect the " good people".
They obviously didn't meet his criteria, given that he overthrew that government, and installed himself!

Sure, and just what segment(s) of the population did they poll?  Regardless, unless they make civil service a safe and reasonably well paying and legal job, you won't get many person of character.  Politics is a tough business anywhere, but in a place that is controlled by what essentially is an outside agency such as the military, nobody really knows what the system is.  And if the country keeps allowing military takeovers, the future is bleak.

Almost half, so it is actually less than half believe the next election will pave the way for good politicians.

IMHO the pollsters are correct.

I have little to zero hope that the next election will produce and more than a mere sprinkling of new faces, and amongst the new sprinkling probably at least half will be corrupt.

I really wish they would ban all the current politicians for life, banned for life from any involvement whatever in politics and banned for life from holding any type of government position.

And instant long-term jail sentence if caught trying to influence politics etc., in any way.

The majority didn't meet anybody's criteria for "good people", starting with the PM working as a puppet for a criminal, the DPM driving around in an untaxed Bentley, the criminals avoiding prosecution, and the mass collecting regular bribes to vote to order. There were daily conflicts of interest with never a recusal, a PM who couldn't answer a question and refused to attend parliament unless forced, and blatant corruption was the SOP.

Remember that Thailand's Parliament is bicameral with the House and the Senate. If the poll is believed, then the Senate whose members will not be elected but directly appointed by the NCPO by definition cannot be expected to be "good people." And that would include the six NCPO members themselves who will have given themselves a Senate seat.
