Now have to show funds Savannakhet?

Recommended Posts

May mean absolutely nothing, but the consulate has not updated the info with the "new" 200k requirement.

Google translated:

Non O (for spouse or fiancé Foreigners have Thai children)

- visa application ( request at the Royal Thai Consulate-General Loading from the State Department  or the stars dozen on the Download the App. ).
- Original passport with copy
- 2 x 3 cm photos of 2 cards
- Copy of marriage certificate with original
- Copy of house registration of spouse
- Copy of ID card of spouse
- Copy of spouse's passport
- Copy of birth certificate of minor (In case of a minor)
A copy of house registration of a minor (in the case of a minor)
- Fee 2,000 Baht / 3 months

So we wait for a new report.

That is for a single-entry - see the Fee is only 2,000 Baht and the "3 months".  A multi-entry 1-year visa is 5,000 Baht.

Ok lets just all calm down for a minute.

Im going there at 2pm today to pick up my passport. I told the wife of the panic on this thread and we will ask when we pick up my passport if it is needed to have  bank book with proof of 200k in Thai bank for non o multiple entry based on marriage.  Ok?

Might post a few hours after as I dont have internet outside of the hotel (and might have to go lose more money at savan casino)

Perhaps just ask if "next" time applicants must show a bank book....Get your Mrs. to ask..

No ,thats not the right question.Jab is picking up a single M-O visa  ,which we know already that no funds are asked for . What we are trying to find out is if funds are now needed for a M-O MULTIPLE  .

I know, but they will say what is required for any visa...Just my thought..

Well just more confusion.

We've just got off the phone with the consulate in Savannakhet who could only confirm that UK nationals do not need to show 200,000 THB when applying for Non O A.

However, the officer told us that they are asking for the requirement from some nationalities but said they could not specify which nationalities over the phone.

I'm expecting a call back from the consulate this afternoon to try and get more clarity. I'll update here as soon as I hear anything.

Well done....:clap2:

I was there Monday and Tuesday with a relative that is still awaiting his Thai birth certificate (currently using USA passport) that only got a TR single visa. Talking with the crowd on Monday  it appeared Non-O ( wife) applications were going through without problems (no request for funds.) However, many Non-B and TR applicants were rejected for various reasons. My relative applied for a Non-O to care for his ill Thai mother and was only given a TR visa even though he had all the documents MFA said he would need. Tuesday one Non-O (wife) applicant (a Dutchman) said he only got TR visa because he did not have funds but at least five others said they were not asked. My judgement is the consulate is tightening up on requirements for Non-O visas.

If you didn't mention your nationality they may have assumed you were from the UK.

Let's wait for Johnathan to get a reply and we may be able to get to the bottom of this confusion.

Ok well it's confirmed....

Bullshit

Asked the guy who gave me my passport. Exact conversation went like this:

For a multi entries non o marriage visa do we need to show 200k bank book?

He repeated, marriage non o multiple show funds?

Mi dawng cup.

So there you have it. In the next week or 2 i see a few people plan on going so they will also confirm this.

Enjoy!

Edit:

This was all without him even looking at my passport or asking what nationality. Seemed it didn't matter

I am a native English speaker and i also did not understand him ( glegolo ) giving the supposed answer with a question mark .I understood jeab ,but as said the person who answered him from the Thai Consulate may have just gave an answer appropriate only for UK people .So some confusion remains .

I understood the conversation between jabsjabs and the Consulate employee.    "He repeated, marriage non o multiple show funds?    Mi dawng cup (translation: no need, krap).

I would have probably wrote it like this Mai dtawng, krab, but no big deal, I think many understood.  The Consular employee answered the query in Thai that there is 'no need to show funds'.

In My email to them i mentioned no particular country, just asked the question about non o based on marriage and showing of funds. The answer as you can see indicates no funds.

So no grey area
