'I'm back to fighting fitness': Diane Abbott says she is ready to argue for Labour again

By Helena Horton

Diane Abbott has recovered from her illness which caused her to be temporarily removed from her position in the shadow cabinet, she said.

The shadow home secretary was battling type 2 diabetes, but has it under control and has said she is ready to argue for Labour again.

She told BBC Breakfast: "I am back to fighting fitness and I'm back to representing the Labour Party in the debates and the battles to come."

I am back to fighting fitness, so the shrink has passed her fit?

Fit for what? The loony left ready for action.:cheesy:

It looks like they can't get rid of her; an absolute gift to the tories, mind.

Ready to make a fool of herself again more like, it's quite shocking that so many voted for her. Then again labour could put a donkey up in Hackney and idiots would still elects it as MP. Without doubt the stupidest and most incompetent MP for a very long time.

Looks can get rid of her. If she's fighting fitness, she's winning.

I have type 2 diabetes. To use that as an excuse for nincompoopery is a joke!

Theresa May has Type 1 diabetes and managed to be Home Secretary and Prime Minister. Abbot is an inept clown, a perfect fit for the party she "serves".

Type 2 diabetes is an award given for a lifetime of shocking, bacchanalian, excess. It is a badge I'm proud to wear!

Fair comment. D2 is no excuse. She'd be at least as bad without it.

I was wondering if anyone on TV would jump to Abbot's defence?  Actually I was wondering if anyone other than Corbyn would come to Abbot's defence.  Clearly for once we are all singing from the same hymn sheet.  If by some bizarre twist Labour did come to power under Corbyn I suspect that the diabetes would end up as the excuse to remove her and boy she would have to be removed!

With a mill stone the size of this bloated champagne socialist hanging around his neck, I bet Corbyn my is wishing he'd heeded the old proverb about not mixing business and pleasure.

Abbott lost her political credibility the day she signed her son up for a swanky 10,000 quid a year private school - then made the mistake of trying publicly to justify the decision on the grounds of her ethnicity.

She should put party above self, do the decent thing and quietly (yeah, I know - not exactly her style) disappear.

I bet that has got the The Labour Party concerned.

Wonder if Corbyn's erswhile ethnic minority bonk will be able to get her basic facts and figures right now that her mild diabetes is under control? Labour needs you, hun. Not.

We should thank her really, if not for her amazing stupidity on camera labour might actually have won the election.
