Well, went down to Tha Pae Gate for the festivities and so forth. It was fairly nice, the closer and closer we got to midnight, the more and more the drunken farangs started crawling out of the woodwork ! :o Sometime around 11:15pm while everyone was lighting their kom fire ( the lantern things ) someone about 20 feet away from me lit theirs and it went straight up and into the power lines. We watched it sit their for a minute or so and my wife said " I think there is going to be a problem" I replied "naw ! " just as I said it BOOM !! there goes all the power up and down the block and on the stage . So they were scrambling to get everything going again........didn't make it. But they did get the fireworks going , and it was a pretty nice little display.

Overall, it was still a fun evening. Hope you all had the same......with the power on !

Happy New Year

Happy New Year

The wife an I managed to stay awake until midnight this year, (had some friends drop over,) and I do have to say it made for a beautiful sky show. There were many more khum loi going up last night then during Loi Kratong, and the fireworks all around the city were splendid! Our view over the city provides a great entertainment spot for this sort of activity, without having to deal with the drunken farangs, or, sadly to say, the bombing in Bangkok. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those killed or injured in the bombings, not to mention those killed in all the traffic accidents, and wish a safe and healthy new year for all.
