BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday expressed his sadness for the slain family of a village headman in Ao Luek district in Krabi province and asked that the public should not assume perpetrators are soldiers just because they wore camouflage fatigues.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-Ocha today gave his condolence to the family of Worayut Sanglang, the village headman of Ban Klang village, after a group of armed men shot up the family resulting in 8 deaths and 3 injuries.

He urged authorities to do their utmost to bring the perpetrators to justice. He assured that the police are not discounting any possible motives for the execution style shooting.

As should be the case when investigating any crime.

Anyone would think they were surely not soldiers for doing such a sloppy job - but I guess we're talking about 'Thai Soldiers'. Not the same thing...

Are you implying Thai soldiers are no good?

Taking into account most are drafted for national service, they are in fact rather good.

How would you know? Have you trained or been on exercises with them?

My implication is that when Thai's use terms like 'Police' or 'Army' that we should not expect the meaning of those words, or institutions, to be anything more than a very superficial mimic of the English counterparts.

Hence the 'policeman' who can stand in the road, today on 'directing traffic duty' who behaves like a droid. Upon driving past HuaHin to a 'soldier beach' there, we find that they are also inconsistent in their racist/nationalist attitudes (being accepted or rejected at the barriers apparently at random with results which vary according to whether the farang is driving or riding in the back seat of the car...).

Great bunch of guys. Soldiers? Not sure about that. I'm sure you know better.

Wasn't it Prayuth that stated  "a Thai could not do that"....in relation to the Witheridge and Miller murders on KT.....now we have 8 killed, including kids, and very likely perpetrated by Thais....and he states "please don't blame soldiers"!.......simply a toerag!!
