Backpackers are still flocking to Koh Tao, sex tourists to BKK and Patts in even greater numbers.

The drama is, we are slowly getting used to and accepting all that sh1t, literally.

over the last 10 years in pattaya i saw a gradual decline in western tourists. the internet has been around for quite a while yet and the use of sites such as trip adviser is increasing but it has not reach many people yet. chinese for example. dont believe the numbers TAT are reporting i believe tourism is on the way down in thailand. even last year the numbers of bus loads of chinese was reducing.

It is not the beach that needs cleaning but the brains of the Thais. Beach itself does not cause the filth, it's the "mai pen rai" attitude that contributed to this!

My second visit to Pattaya Beach was in 2001.

 

The garbage was abhorrent.

 

I saw a couple Thai teenage boys out there about chest deep in the sewer.

 

One had the bright idea to use a plastic bag floating nearby as a diving mask.

 

YES....He put a plastic bag over his head!

 

Came up for air & DOH! That didn't work out so well.

 

I was sitting there with my wife, saying "Watch this......It'll be good".

I disagree I think it is growing more then ever.  The Chinese don't research their trips?

Take a walk in the mornings along BR and see.

Was in Chiang Mai and BKK now here over the past few weeks.  Chinese to the max.  Groups every where even walking around the malls with their flagged escorts. 

I will say I think it is declining or steady for falang.  I walk alot and many of the same faces in places, not many new.

Thailand is clean and barely even crowded at all compared to the limited places I've been in China (Beijing & all over Taiwan).

 

I've had the displeasure of being in the US Army (dig a hole), and quite a few places where a Port-a-John/Potty was the only option for a latrine.

 

An hour outside Beijing was the worst shitter I have ever been near.

 

Pretty much ANYTHING outside of China is better than INSIDE China. At least that's been my experience.

Yes you are right which is why they are buying condos and think it is great here.

 

Took this  a few hours ago.  Some sort of a collection area across from Soi 6.

I looked inside and there must have been tons of garbage.  The dude was trying to scoop it out with a net. HA.

No one has mentioned the health risk. These beaches should be closed....now and warning signs placed where everyone can see them. Pumping raw sewage into the sea is dangerous to your health.

Face it like it is this Pattaya little fishing village has overgrown his capacity....,too many hotels condos bars , hotels and other things.

They need urgent a COMPLETE building STOP, and giving priority to infrastructure and enforcing this to later starting build again. Forcing all builders to make reasonable sewage water  solutions and for city council a sewage water cleaning plant .....Pattaya can not keep growing further like this , also need serious garbage plants .....or one day they gone have a very ..very serious problem.

They only welcomed the money coming in , not or to little infrastructure planned before .

 

Years past on a trip to koh larn I was wondering what those brown clouds where in the water whas .......seeing later those big pipes I knew that the Siam bay is only a big toilet .... I neber poot even a foot in the beach water .....shit swimmers can do ,not me

I keep reading that those large pipes are pumping poo into the bay, but Ctiy Hall state that it's pumping from the storm drains etc whenever we have a storm to reduce flooding.

 

Does anyone have concrete proof that raw sewage is being pumped into the bay ?

 

Either way, you wouldn't even catch me paddling in that gunk.

Do you see many shit carriers here driving around this high populated city ..?.,unless the  poo became to thick then they shall use them to remove ....? you know around Pattaya a sewage cleaning plant ? I don't .

If  they were truly serious they could start by shutting down all the bars and other businesses on Walking Street that dump their poop right into the ocean.  Keep them shut down until they prove they have hooked up to a sewer line or have come up with another way to handle their waste that protects the environment.  Then go from there.

Nothing will change the whole country is a rubbish  tip " thais love thailand so they say " but trash goes out the window every second + + the vendors who use the beach to make money should clean the s_ _ te up daily " morning and evenings " criky Bali has been actively doing this since 70s. Not rocket science.

A large number of the bottles and other junk that wash up on shore are from fishing boats. The crew just throws trash right into the same sea they make their living from. Lack of education is the biggest factor in many problems in Thailand.

Also a while back someone posted a Google satellite image of a treatment plant/pump station at Bali-Hai on the corner of the road junction between walking street and the road going upto the flyover
I don't know if that one is in use either or even still there as they are building a large condo block
on that corner !

Wow!  Beaches all raked and litter all picked up.  The dirt bag chair/umbrella scam are happy and ready to ugly up the beach.  Next clean up the water for the jet ski scammers. The parasailing boats are eager to churn the water for one way tourists.

Friends of mine showed me a video of the filth spewing out into the sea at Jomtien.

taken from a higher floor on the beach View Talay it looked frightening. Needless to say I would never ever swim there, or in Pattaya.
