Jai Dee Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Phuket keeping high vigil at tourist spots Phuket Governor Nirand Kallayanamitr (นิรันดร์ กัลยาณมิตร) said the province had instructed police officers, including plainclothes policemen, to monitor all areas in the province, especially important tourist attractions. The governor has increased security forces at strategic locations and demanded that every vehicle entering and leaving the province has to be inspected. In the meantime, the Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Region 4 Office, Suwalai Pinpradap (สุวลัย ปิ่นประดับ) revealed that most tourists in Phuket have not learnt about the bombs last night in Bangkok and they have not panicked over the situation. During New Year’s Eve last night, the province had cooperated with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in organizing New Year activities at the Jung Ceylon Shopping Mall at the Patong Beach. On the contrary, the Central Festival Shopping Mall had cancelled the count-down activity and closed the place earlier than usual. donna Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 i was out last night and didnt hear a thing about the bombs. when i got to work this morning (yes, working on new years day DOES suck), i found out about it. so i suspect that as its 'only' 11.30am, there are many people who dont yet know about it.
Little Black Duck Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Came Home by Motorcycle at 1:30am never even saw a sign of any activity.. They kept themselves pretty inconspicuous..
