BERLIN (Reuters) - An Iraqi gunman died in a shootout with German police early on Sunday after killing one person in a nightclub in the southern city of Konstanz, police said, ruling out terrorism as a motive.

"The motives of the man who acted alone are unclear," Konstanz police spokesman Fritz Bezikofer told broadcaster n-tv.

"We are still investigating but the circumstances surrounding the events at the disco in the evening before the shooting are a bit clearer and this led us to rule out a terrorism background."

The 34-year-old man opened fire in the club in the early hours of Sunday, killing one person and injuring three others. He died in hospital of injuries suffered in a gunfight with police outside the venue. One policeman was also injured.

Police said the gunman had lived in Germany for a number of years and was not an asylum seeker. They added that a dispute among criminals may have led to the shooting in an industrial area of the city.

Police special forces were deployed in the city after the shooting around 0230 GMT as it was not clear if the suspect had acted alone or had accomplices.

On Friday, a failed asylum seeker killed one person and injured six others in the northern city of Hamburg. Officials said he was an Islamist known to security forces and he was psychologically unstable.

Sounds like a cover-up, what with Merkel seeking re-election in September.  Wouldn't do to have two Middle Eastern wallahs waving a gun so freely so close to the election....

Indeed. He's Iraqi, Muslim and some reports claimed shouted the oft quoted Allha u Akbar.

But of course, if he had no known links to terrorist organizations, not identified as a radical or activist, then he might just be a nutter.

Of course, he could be a Jihadist, who crept in under the radar, remained under the radar for a number of years and suddenly decided now was the time to activate. Nah, course not, silly me!

They corrected that as "brother in law".

I mean arguments and brawls with bouncers happen every other time as their job IS to discriminate.

Usually they their clan to come and make up for a mass brawl.

But this guy came back with a military type M16 and obviously knew how to handle!

Only a nutter seems in this case compared to the Hamburg knife murderer who was a known islamist and "mentally unstable" as they claim.
