My iPad

Featured Replies

My iPad works perfectly except I can no longer charge it. I have 40% power (it's powered off for most of the time now) left and after that is used up it will be defunct according to the Apple iCare Centre in Chiang Mai. A cursory look at it and they say they can't fix it and I need to buy a new iPad. Is this really so? Is there nobody that can fix it - some whizzos in Bangkok maybe.? Or some smart way to charge it?

Another matter unrelated to my iPad: I have a Compaq Notebook with no battery and now (because I gave it away to a hapless Thai girl) a connector to the mains electric supply. I have tried to buy a new one but seems nobody sells them. Has anyone got one they can let me have? or maybe a secondhand shop might have one. Any bright ideas appreciated. Thank you

Thank you for help in any of these two problems

AppleCare in Thailand sometimes used the easy way for them...

How old is your iPad? It could be that it is no more supported by Apple.

I assume, that you have tried different cables and chargers?

You will find everywhere shops which repair older Apple models - but without genuine Apple parts. Sometimes Apple employees offer repairs.

I have mixed experiences with this kind of repairs. Some of them worked well others not.

Thank you for your reply. They didn't tell me my iPad was no longer supported - it is old - I think about 5 or 6 years old. An Ipad 2 . But the important point is that essentially the ipad is working as normal. I have 40% power left on it now so when that is gone so, it appears, is my ipad. I am using it for "emergency" right now so I switch it off and don't use it much.

I think I will try to get something organised with a secondhand or repair shop . I am not that bothered about authorised parts if it continues to give me service. Better than losing it anyway,

An analogy would be that my car is working perfectly if only I could get gas in the tank!!

If you are familiar with repair places around Chiang Mai, I would appreciate knowing where they are.

Thank you again,

Chris
