Ask 20 times and get 20 different answers I know but I'm trying to get a cost for a circa 20/25m x 6/8m pool which might potentially be freeform or irregular in shape.

Online calculators seem quite high to me, at between 4.4m to 7.6m baht.

http://koh-samui.construction/swimming-pool-construction-cost-thailand/ @ 4.4m

https://isaanpools.com/price-your-pool/ @ 7.6m

Reading here and elsewhere you also see a common trait that if it gets big, then do it yourself with some bought in expertise. At 7.6m, someone is asking me to buy them a nice new BMW or two I think !

This is a starting process to go along with a new house build up in Buriram over the next couple of years so nothing mega urgent. I guess there will be a lot of time needed for research but I wanted to get a handle on costs and options and perhaps just how practical it might be to project manage something assuming a build schedule in weeks and not months.

Are you building a resort?  I do apologies for stating the obvious are you sure on your sizes it is a big pool . 25x 8m is a 4 lane training pool. at a depth of 1.4 on average equates to a 290 m/3 pool.

A lot of schools would love to have one.

So maybe your online guesstimates may be in the ball park.

Once you have design in mind get it drawn up with a specification and hawk it around.

Something that size  Would strongly advise a competent architect and structural engineer on board, how ever well meaning some people may be it is not a diy lead project.

If you expect a pool that size to be built in weeks it will not happen , the concrete curing time alone is 6 weeks.

I have got two quotes so far for my pool, due to be built in the next few months.  Its looking like it will be approx  10 metres by 5 metres, standard  rectangular shape.  Quotes range from 600,000 for labour alone  and I buy all the materials, to 1,5 million all in.  It also  seems to depend on whether you are looking for a standard build pool ,or a moulded fibre glass pool. I don't know  the differences in price yet, but I will re post when I have more information.  I am tending to the fibre glass approach.  Good luck to us both, as it seems to be a mine field.  Not just the build, but understanding the maintenance issues, which seem to need a  Degree in engineering to understand!!

I was advised to budget around 30k THB/ m2 with an average depth of 1.5m, which seems to equate exactly with Pilotmans quote.

Think about the cost of water treatment products and the running costs !!  I have a 12m x 4m pool (overflow type) of 75 cubic meters, sand filter and a 1.5 HP pump  running 4 hours a day and all the time  when swimmers are using the pool. ( swimmers cause the water level to rise and overflow into the surge tank which would overflow to waste if the pump wasn't running !).

Keep the pool well away from trees !!

I would build it for under 2 million & still have reasonable profit.

If you're that reasonable I'll contract you to build mine. PM me please.

If you're in the Mukdahan Kalasin area, I've got a super tradesman helping me with great advice from Valentine.
He's a tiler/builder.
We're on the final run home with the tiles going in.

I have seen several pools built by isaan Pools during construction and when they are done. It is worth the OP time to go in person to see the pools and meet the team.  The OP can speak in person, face to face, with customers of Isaan pools. A world apart from the Bangkok company who built my 4 meter by 6 meter tiled pool in 2008.  The spec of pool pumps and filters offered by Issan pools is quite different from what I see recommended by other companies in Buriram or Surin Province. Paul Bodkin drives a pick up and not a BMW. The owner of JD Pools had a very nice Mercedes when I met him at the JD Pools headquarters in Bangkok in 2008.  16 meter by 10 meter pool is the largest I have personally seen built by Isaan Pools.

Many thanks for the responses so far. please keep them coming.

As to size, then ys, I am deadly serious about a 20/25m pool. I used to be a trained swimmer and used to 25/50m pools but I thought 50m might be a bit overkill for the back yard  :shock1:

Engineering of this size needs way more than a ".... I think ...." Somchai approach but none of the online calculators do anything other than apply a per sqm cost to a number.

At the end of the day, when we find the correct firm or couple of firms and we get the right specifications on the table, then we will see whether the costs overrun what I think is reasonable. There won't be a quality compromise at the top end because if I wanted to do that then I could easily get a 12m x 6m kit pool for a few hundred grand and have it sitting in a hole in the garden for less than Bt500/600k I reckon. That is one option but not for a 25m pool.

Just did my cost accounting for my 14 × 4× 1.5 av SWG tiled pool. Guestamated B 700000 came in at B 880000.

The extensive tiling and drainage equipment is included in the price, but not the pool fence.

With the help of TV forum members I did the electrical and plumbing myself.

The pool fence and aquaponics shed will be made from all the left over steel we used for pool shutterboard support.

If you get the equipment right then maintenance is easy to learn. Salt chlorination is the safest & simplest approach. I have over 25 yrs exp in commercial & domestic swimming pools in Aust, NZ & Sth East Asia. I helped Ramayana Water Park on start up and consulted daily for their 1st 12 months with chemical dosing, water quality, cleaning & maintenance team training. I have form a group of specialist in all areas of swimming pools here in Thailand.
