They play it often (for money) near our house, in bushland well away from others. The gf says the local police are paid to turn a blind eye. Curious to know name of game, if it's played in farangland or in legalised casinos?

Of course. The version you showed is a cut down version with less betting options, making it easier to understand.

Here is another pic taken from gf google search. Hope this pic is clearer. Turns out the game is called Hi Lo - as already mentioned (thank you).

I will now search further to find out if played in farangland legal casinos

I would not touch any game in Thailand that involves cash. They cheat and get very pissed off when they lose and have to pay up. Not worth the effort and no fun at all when they lose it mentally. If Thailand ever opened a legit casino most cars/houses/land and females of the family would be used as currency. SE Asian men and also women have no control when it comes to gambling.

I took a Svengali pack, gave the brother in law 100 baht showed him the full pack told him to bet high or low against  a 3 I pulled from the pack - he 'chose' high and pulled a 2

Gave him another 4 chances of course same result every time, it was a lesson for my children to see how a 'smart' guy can manipulate cards

Nobody asks me to play cards, my wife does not like them in the house!!

GF played it in Brisbane Casino a few years ago.

I played once after seeing it be played in Isaan at every funeral, wedding or monk indoctrination  ceremony. Never played again after the copper wouldn't pay the 200B he lost to me.

Dept of honor.

An obligation, especially a gambling debt based on a verbal promise, which is not legally enforceable but which is considered to be secured by the debtor's moral integrity.

Great game. Great fun especially jumping out the back window when the cops raid.:burp:

The cops yesterday raided the game shown in the pic of my OP. Most of the players jumped my boundary fence to run out into the street. One of the female fence jumpers (unknown to me and unable to speak any English) walked into my lounge room and sat down to watch Manly Vs Sydney Roosters in the NRL until the cops left.

I just hope the cops never arrested my NRL lady. I've never seen a lady become a fan of rugby league so quickly.
