Can anyone tell me what this grub is? About 2" long, compost heap is full of them.

Witcherdee Grub....common in Australia, and VERY good for your soil. You can eat them too.....lol

Thank you weegee, BTW believe you have a chap interested in your gear, sorry didn't get back to you on that.

Yours may be coconut rhinoceros beetle larvae. If so, your coconut palms are at high risk of infestation and mortality.  If so, net your compost pile to trap emerging adult beetles from flying to the palm crowns. If no coconut palms in the vicinity, then its less likely to be the beetle.

Thanks for the info. We do have quite a few coconut palms close-by. I'll check them out tomorrow.

Wait mate, keep a hold of everything. I'm super busy and nowhere to put things.... hang fire.

Just dig a bit in that compost and if you see brown beetles which look like cockroaches it must be them.

 

They eat roots of plants and even killed some of my tree's.

I tried eating these fellas when Iived out there in the 60's, quite tasty.
