English Premier League preview: what to watch this weekend

The English Premier League gets underway in the early hours of Saturday morning. For football fans it has been a long, boring summer without any major international tournaments but the wait is finally over.

The games are all live in Thailand on the Beinsport channels which are provided by True Vision. The highlight of the weekend is the match between Leicester City and Arsenal but unfortunately that kicks off at 1:45am on Saturday morning, not the most convenient of times.

Anyone who decides to set their alarm clock, or stay up, for that one should keep an eye on Arsenal new boy Alexander Lacazette. He’s a pacy striker who has excellent movement and is always looking to run in behind defenders.

Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez will also be looking to make a big impression against the team he would like to join. He’s one of the best in the league at running with the ball and his turns frequently leave opposition defenders bewildered.

On Saturday Liverpool travel to Watford for the early kick off. The game gets underway at 6:45pm and will be a chance for fans to get a first glance at new signing Mohamed Salah who had an excellent scoring record in Serie A.

Everton’s game with Stoke is probably the pick of the 9pm kick offs with the blues likely to feature a host of new signings including England internationals Jordan Pickford and Wayne Rooney. Keep an eye out for Sandro Ramirez, a highly rated Spanish striker.

For anyone who is happy to stay up watching football until the early hours of Sunday morning the late kick off sees Manchester City travel to newly promoted Brighton. Pep Guardiola’s teams always look to build from the back, expect this to be a feature for a side with two new full backs and a new keeper.

At 7:30pm on Sunday there’s an intriguing tie between newly promoted Newcastle United and Tottenham. Both teams have been quiet in the transfer window but Harry Kane and Dele Ali will be looking to pick up where they left off last season.

The final game of the weekend sees West Ham travel to Man Utd for a game kicking off at 10pm on Sunday. In midweek Jose Mourinho had some success when he brought on Marouane Fellaini and started to play very direct football, expect similar second half tactics if his side are still chasing a goal.

We can look forward to more of the miserable Mourinho quite soon now.

Who will win the title next May? For me any team other than Manchester United

Truevisions, in justifying their 7% price increase, suggested that we would be able to watch Premier League matches.  However, Gold subscribers are paying 1678 bahts per month now and yet are only able to watch Bein 4, which so far has only shown Southampton vs Swansea, with the more important matches being shown on other Bein channels, which are blocked for Gold subscribers.

Am I alone in thinking that this is a Truevisions con?
