I pay here 2 euro for a kg of rice, so where is the money in between? yup governments, buyers, sellers but sure not the farmer.

In BKK on the local market a kg of jasmin costs around 40 baht....so if the farmer got 5 baht the money is made elsewhere.

But if the farmers can't/won't even bring the rice to BKK themselves to get a better price they shouldn't complain. We have had this discussion over and over again, after all they don't have to be farmers.

So let's see now.. we seem to have an armchair agriculturist here. I suggest you move to Isaan and explain to the stupid farmers why they've been doing it wrong all these years, generations. What revolutionary new crop do you suggest for a soil that is waterlogged during the growing season and hard as concrete for the rest?

I know several crops for those conditions, it's not the only place on earth with that climate.

It's easyier to ask for assistance so other Thai pay for them, that's why nothing changes.

I'm not allowed to work in Thailand and spent a lot of time abroad investigating which crops could grow in Esan.

So where can i send the bill for my advice (bill will come out of Europe).

Just like the farmers i don't work for free.

I am rarely rude on Thaivisa but I could make an exception.
