So why don't you already know about this scam if you're an experienced tourist? Plenty of threads in here about it and lots of advice on which other border points to go to to avoid it.
Methinks you need to spend less time whining about "Thailand is a scam" and more time learning how to play the game.
I have a friend who swears by 100 baht haircuts but I think he overpays. A macaque with a pair of clippers could do a better job and it would cost peanuts.

Also, from the blurb it would appear that the article is misleading. Insurance policies don't have "fine print" anymore, the terms and conditions are set out in normal sized font.

The owner can do it online, no need to go to immigration. but if they have to go to immigration for some reason then so what, that's the cost of doing business. If owner can't do that then don't sign the contract. Simples.
Lens is way more useful. It's more accurate and can also be used to do live translation using the camera, eg. for translating a menu that's in Thai only.
