  1. If you are UK resident for tax then they will accept it - it is basically a box ticking exercise for them unless you are on file with them with a foreign address. When this came up in the past many who had addresses and claimed residency in Thailand simply said that they did not need a TIN in Thailand as they did not pay tax here....... This worked for some at that time.
  2. I guess if nothing else is available you may miss Liptons but personally I find their tea bags somewhat insipid......... I think even the Makro own brand (if available) are probably better and as Trans posted lots of options online - all be it a little more expensive.
  3. It has got nothing to do with online banking per se. There have been many threads over the last few years about UK banks and other countries asking their account holders for these details. It is all about "knowing your customer" and international tax sharing agreements like CRS. Among them Barclays have actively closed down a lot of non-residents accounts. it sounds like they know or are guessing you are not living in the UK and possibly hence asking. TIN stands for Tax Identification number. For the UK this is your NI no.

  5. Smile is a UK digital banking arm - I think for the Co Op
  6. So give to charity or find a cause to fund.........
  7. There are always "rogue" offices that make up their own requirements but otherwise personally I think you will be waiting a long time.........potentially a very long time. I just did my extension 2 weeks ago and no issue.
  8. Perhaps you want to have a look at this https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/residence-domicile-and-remittance-basis/rdrm33520 (assuming you may consider the UK still as "first world" .....)
  9. It could depend on his bank. I found some years ago with an offshore bank that offered supposedly "free" transfers that I got hit with a $50 correspondent bank fee. After discussing with them I found that if I opted out of the free transfer and took all charges I manage to avoid both the correspondent fee and the 300-500 baht Thai bank fee - and ended up paying less than half in total fees.
  10. Same as yours. Package price 200k (2 years ago) but included overnight in the hospital. Both done on same day in my case.
  11. Read the whole article including the bit at the end. Should not be an issue for what you are looking to do.
  12. Absolutely. The only thing missing from the free edition as far as I am concerned is the separate file and folder backup.
  13. Their site? https://www.aomeitech.com/ab/standard.html
  14. I have generally had good results with Major Geeks https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/macrium_reflect_free_edition.html Make sure you read the Editor's Note at the bottom of the article
  15. OP this may help with some answers- https://www.supersightsurgery.com/ Go to FAQs on the right of the screen. Thoroughly recommended (in my case) all be it perhaps a tad pricey....
  16. if I was a cynical man..........I would say it is just a photo shoot of him turning over a bit of earth..... Do you really think he actually dug the hole or planted the tree which is pictured? Whilst the poster you were responding to may have been a little acerbic in his initial comment your future responses appear, being polite, somewhat disingenuous
  17. The PBS headline is (IMHO) very misleading - When in the article it states
  18. By mirror I take it you just mean copy. Presumably therefore I can copy it to my normal Windows back up drive with whatever Windows format that happens to be in? Furthermore, unless I have misunderstood, I don't need a separate drive formatted in ext4 to save Timeshifts?
  19. I hadn't noticed this on a dual boot set up - which to be fair I do not use much any more - how does it hijack it? A question if I may for you and @BigStar With a windows host and virtual box with Linux Mint as the guest I am confused about "backing up". I have a snapshot in VB but I have also used Timeshift for the Linux install as I tweaked quite a few of the settings - not so much bothered about files. I have read the VB information but it is not clear to me. Do I still need the Linux Timeshift to maintain those settings in the event of an issue?
  20. Thanks for mentioning that as my PEA bill changed last week. Was a purpleish colour and the latest was more pink. Also they have finally managed to make it smaller by about 40%. This is in Pattaya.
  21. Even if he has insurance (have you OP?) if left unoccupied for more than a certain period he would probably not be covered.
  22. Are you sure........
  23. Not sure how that works Mike but if you are completing SA109 (as you should if non resident for UK tax) then there is a box to specifically claim it. Page RR2
  24. My understanding (which could be wrong) is that the law is still on the books. However considering how many new cars have this as a standard feature you would be very unlucky to fall foul of it if still the case.
  25. You don't. I have a separate phone for SCB app banking and it has no sim in it at all.........
