Operation Launched to Remove Invasive Fish from Rivers
topt replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Can someone please tell me why this guy has the title or rank of Captain - was he serving in the Armed Forces at some point before or after his Aussie episode? -
@george I am wondering why this was posted here and not in the Insurance forum? And for anyone considering giving them your phone number to get a quote be prepared to be chased repeatedly by your "contact" I talked to them end of last year when I was considering changing from April and it became a pain to stop them.
-
So to be clear they are saying you cannot have one as not married but they can break their rule if you pay a facilitation cost...... If coming from the head of your LO I suggest your partner go and find out (probably indirectly from a lower ranked person) what amount is viable. 13 years ago in Pattaya I had to pay 10k in an envelope and that was with a lawyer's rep present.....The amount was "suggested" by a third party.

That seems very reasonable - as a per kg price. What cut was that?

Thailand and Russia Strengthen Industrial Cooperation

Wasn't there a news article yesterday about a Thai Steel company (a part of Tata?) bemoaning cheaper Chinese Steel imports and the impact on Thailand. Now this - although "steel products" may be different I suppose...... -
Isn't this just an assumption at the moment - or is it because a couple of outlying RD offices have said so? Although as you have said nothing has really changed other than the current year/following year, are we likely to see a definitive RD ruling on how they will interpret DTAs particularly as in this case the pensions you are referring to are specifically excluded. I know there was the statement originally that appeared in the press which one poster keeps mentioning but is that being taken as gospel.......? I have not looked into it but how easy is it to potentially claim a credit from HMRC against Thai tax?
-
Playing devil's advocate could they in fact be taxed twice.... The UK digest of DTa's states that State and personal pensions are excluded in relation to the agreement with Thailand and there is in fact no relief...... https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/5b05425fed915d1317445ed2/DT_Digest_April_2018.pdf Thailand page 34. (I have only quoted you as it was easier but understand it is a non issue for you )

Can probate be carried out -without the need of a lawyer?
topt replied to Delight's topic in General Topics
SCB has ATMs with a menu item of 30,000 - and I guess other banks will be similar. Just checked on my app for SCB and the maximum daily limit mentioned in there is 500k - which of course would mean multiple withdrawals (mine is set much lower ) -

Did you mean 200,000 baht? -
How bad is it that it failed what seems to be minimal testing...........

Yes. I respectfully suggest you read some of the threads in the Insurance section in order to get a better understanding of potential pros and cons to enable you to make a qualified decision. Simplistically you should have greater protection with International policies rather than specific Thailand based policies. As an example many (not all) Thailand based policies will stop insuring you at 70 or 75 whereas most International based policies will carry on - as long as you can afford the premiums......
-
This page has a phone number at the bottom which should get you through. https://expat.april-international.com/members/login.jsf However I am with them and after the change to brokers here in Thailand my direct contact was ....disappointing.......... If you have read the other April threads you should have seen one where @Sheryl ferreted out a French agent that she is now using as an intermediary between her and April International. Contact details were in one of the posts.

Hacked LINE account, how to block access by another
topt replied to notrub's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Depends how she got access - if you have changed the password then it should do. Block them all and or delete them if you don't know them - why anybody would accepts random strangers is beyond me. Go through all the settings carefully. Enable 2FA if you haven't already Under Privacy - you could enable Filter messages which which rejects messages not send by friends - just make sure you have those contacts set up as Friends. External app access - unless you need it for something make sure it is set to Never Allowed. Under Friends I have Auto -add friends and Allow others to add me switched off - if I need to I can add people but stops random strangers or ad hoc contacts/businesses getting added when you don't want them. Do all that then maybe change your password again as it seems unclear how your partner gained access. -

Yes and based on an article yesterday that could be the bigger issue.

Yes. There are ways but was a continual battle.

Just means get rid of any apps that you don't use or want or disable them if you cannot actually delete them.

This gave me a chuckle - thanks I have a Redmi Note 8 which I ended up rooting after 3 months due to all the "bloatware" and phoning home. Otherwise great value for money.

Was that a rhetorical question........ I am only guessing but perhaps it is to do with checking or correcting the CGT rate you pay depending on your tax band when you file due to different rates?
