  1. Sounds like the Cuban Missile Crisis, the China version.
  2. When these grifters suddenly showed up in Dec 2020 with all their goofy ideas I figured DT dangled some kind of bounty for keeping him in office, probably a pile of $$$. (As if he would actually pay.) I still think so. It brought out the bottom feeders like pillow guy, overstock guy, Powell et al. And there is still that matter of Powell making that phone call to the Pentagon, telling them to invade Germany or something like that. The only thing that comedy lacked was Peter Sellers.
  3. A man dressing as a woman? Isn't that illegal in LOS? There is a day during Brazilian Carnival when men dress as women. The real drag queens get into it, but a lot of the straight guys do it up like in his pic. Along with a donation to the judicial retirement fund.
  4. In SiliValley world (and probably other places) it's pretty common that when hired the new employee must sign a non-compete clause that addresses this directly, and covers a specific period of time after termination -- I've signed a few. I would think that in California enough of these things have turned up in court that they are commonplace and a precedent has emerged of the need for a signed agreement. On the other hand he might be able to drag the case to a conservative backwater in another state (the smiling African seems to be favoring Texas these days https://www.statesman.com/story/news/2023/03/13/elon-musk-city-bastrop-texas-near-tesla-spacex-boring-co/69999587007/) where justice is, um, impressed by wealth or political partisanship; you may have noticed the GOP is doing a spell of such things these days. I saw a piece of an interview with him in recent days, looks like maybe he's not doing too well. But don't underestimate what he is willing to spend on lawsuits, he's one of the richest guys on the planet and the way he blew $44 billion on a non-spectacular technology company shows just how capricious he can be. He can blow another $44B and still be very wealthy.
  5. C'mon, don't play dumb, you all know it's flat. West of the Azores is nothing. At the edge is an Einsteinian void in which you will not age and will be falling for a longer time than can be recorded. This is what really happened to the Titanic. They got rid of Jimmy Hoffa's body by throwing it off the edge. [/sarcasm]
  6. What happened to that young Republican guy who said he was invited to sex and drugs parties attended by GOP members of Congress? He did a lot of spouting off on the MAGA stuff, but once he said that they shut him down PDQ (pretty damn quick). Check the WH register for Republicans coming in on the day of discovery.
  7. The Jesus Rule: on the third day either resurrect or toss. It is said that at one day old it has lost 50% of its nutrients. Is that true? The hell if I know.
  8. Using marijuana may affect your ability to think and plan, study says Well yeah, but, umm, uh, I forgot what I was planning to say . . .
  9. I tried to sign up, but it would not accept my gmail email address, kept asking for my work address. I don't have one. But all's well in the end, I've been avoiding the SM sites for years, no need to start in now.
  10. The ex-wife said I should seriously seek professional help. I took her advice and went out into the night and picked up a pro. Had a hell of a time, best $40 I ever spent. Great advice, hun.
  11. This whole cocaine in the WH thing is looking pretty convenient, no?
  12. After pouring through CCTV footage, the Secret Service found no evidence of cocaine use. But they did notice a strange phenomenon of people consuming salt through their noses.
  13. These two are for driving on a scorching hot day, always brings to mind the standoff at the end of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly." And if you don't mind it when things get ethnic:
  14. Driving at night through a thick fog, Entwistle's bass will get you through
  15. Barreling down the freeway to this one, particularly the last one minute of it (it's cued up)
  16. https://www.medicinesfaq.com/brand/vivacor
  17. If using the kind of headphones that tuck into your ears it is crucial that you keep them clean. Those little alcohol wipes in packets are a cheap and handy way to accomplish this. Dab anything you are going to put into your ears with something disinfectant, including your finger. I had something wrong with one ear, some sort of pain would come and go, had it for a while. Finally saw an ear doctor and he gave me an ointment of clotrimazole and betamethasone, it eventually cleared up. I think. I still use it once a week just in case. You can buy these things easily in LOS.
  18. It looks like the blowback on college enrollment is starting to build. They're saying that people who's grandfathers have campus buildings named after them should be no more entitled to attend the school than anyone else. https://www.bostonherald.com/2023/07/03/activists-spurred-by-affirmative-action-ruling-challenge-legacy-admissions-at-harvard/
  19. Ah yes, the free flow of information, as expressed by the guy who paid $44 billion to ensure it. Now he's doing what?
  20. Reagan was in even worse shape, but when anything critical of him was said the response was a sympathetic "hey, don't pick on the old man!" Once he was re-elected they kept him away from reporters unless he was duly prepped and prompted. One time when he became aware of it he did say "I'm not a potted plant president!" No one said that he was, but since he brought it up . . .
