Earth’s Hottest Year: 2024 Breaks Global Temperature Records

It's big business, isn't that obvious? Similar to wars. Most people don't want wars. But lots of rich people and politicians and governments are happy to make lots of money with the industrial military complex. -

Is that good news? Now they don't have to transport bananas from far away to Japan anymore. -

Obviously, humans are in part responsible for climate change. The skeptics, me included, ask why governments all over the world implement seemingly stupid ideas to "fight" climate change. I.e. making one country cleaner and outsourcing all the dirty production to other countries, with less restrictions, is a stupid idea. Switching off nuclear power, and then using coal, is a stupid idea. There are many of those stupid idea. They might look good to some voters locally but cost a fortune and are counterproductive if people would look at the whole world. -

I suggest from now on no private planes should be allowed anymore. I wonder how fast the rich and powerful would need to declare that this is all not so serious. And how can anybody survive without private plane. -

Democracy has failed the US,maybe it's time for a King
OneMoreFarang replied to SiSePuede419's topic in Political Soapbox
Really? And will the new guy be smart and honest? -
Is the filter designed to be cleaned? Or should it be replaced? The filter might have something built in that the device identifies that that filter was already used for x hours. And for that reason, it tells you to replace it.

Democracy has failed the US,maybe it's time for a King

Not really. Lot of idiots voted for an idiot. And when a majority do that, then this is democracy. I think they deserve what they voted for. The problem is we, the rest of the world. We don't want that idiot to "rule the world".- 223 replies

finally realized that he was in jail for Thaksin but Thaksin was not in jail for what Thaksin did. How many years did Jatuporn need to realize this? -
Anutin Demands Severe Penalties for District Chief Corruption

How about maximum penalties for all kind of corruption in Thailand? Start with checking where his money came from. -
Russia Monitors Trump’s Greenland Comments Amid Global Concerns

In a way you are right. He is a silly ahole. But the problem is that soon he will be POTUS, the most powerful person in the word. Should we hope that there are still some adults in the room who hold him and his stupid ideas back? Unfortunately, it looks like he is surrounded by yes-men who don't have the spice to stand up against him. With such a crazy idiot in that position lots of bad things can happen - in part maybe by accident. And 70+ million Americans voted for that guy... -
Protests Threaten Return of Yingluck Shinawatra to Thailand
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Feel free to believe your favorite version why things happened. IMHO there are often many reasons, and they are intervened. There is no easy "it happened because of this reason". -
It seems in some cases you can let them send it back to the sender and you should get a refund. But I am pretty sure that is not a general rule.

You wanted my opinion, I wrote it. I live since 30 years in Bangkok. I follow the news every day and I talk to people, including many Thais. If you think you know better, why do you ask and then you are unhappy when you don't read what you want to read. Strange. -

Look at the last election. That was a good sign. I expect that the next election will go further in the same direction. -

IMHO things are changing. Slowly, but they do change. And in Thailand, IMHO, to the better. -
Protests Threaten Return of Yingluck Shinawatra to Thailand
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Those "traitors" removed the super corrupt Shinawatras who the police and judges didn't touch. I, like many people who lived in Thailand at that time, were happy that the last two coups happened to remove the Shinawatras. Lots of people gave flowers to the soldiers because they liked that the military intervened. I was there, and I remember. It was happy party time on the streets - at least in Bangkok. -

I remember enough of it to know that "I didn't know" just doesn't work. And she was the PM. If she didn't want the job and didn't want the responsibility, then she should have told her brother: I am not doing that job! Look for someone else!
