  1. As much as I dislike that guy, and as much as I support transgender rights, this ban in sports is giving women back their right to compete with equals.
  2. If this happens with airplanes... what do you think happens within auto repair shops?
  3. Bloody serious. I don't pay/donate for other peoples stupidity... oh wait... maybe the concrete barrier jumped in front of his motorbike... well then, let's donate... I give money for people I know when they need it, i.e. when they have cancer treatment that is not fully covered... but primarely, my extra money is to build up savings for the future, so I don't ever need a GoFundMe beggar page
  4. Health insurance is not equal travel/accident insurance... and the main question would remain, does he even have a motorbike licence But as far as foreign tourists go... it seems travel insurance is completely unnecessary, it is cheaper to later ask for donations on GoFundMe pages... nobody will ever get a cent from me for such an accident
  5. It will impact her credit rating, but a one-time slip in 10 years should not impact future loans / credits
  6. Yeah right... and we would like married people from the Schengen countries to have the same stay visas (2/5/unlimited) and no 90d Reports as Thais living in Europe and married to Europeans. Reciprocity the key word...
  7. Another one... motorbike crash... "no record of insurance for him" according to the family (BBC article)
  8. report it to the local police first, and if they do nothing, report it to the cyber crime investigation unit https://ccid4.ccib.go.th/
  9. It's NOT an improvement except for the (for now) smoother surface. But the ridiculous signage changing from 2 lanes to 1 are dangerous, specially for motorbikes
  10. My 16y old daughter caught dengue and her blood count was do bad, even a bruising could have let to significant internal bleeding. She was in the hospital for 6 days... after that, we did vaccinate her as soon as possible
  11. Since Cigna sold the Thail business to Chubb - which then cacelled all policies by expiration date - Cigna has become... (naming and shaming not allowed), so I recommend everybody who can to stear away from them. @tomgreen: Check reducing the coverage to Thailand / Asia only, that should reduce the premium. If you need to travel, get yourself a cheap travel insurance
  12. Elephant rides are animal cruelty, the spine is not made to carry that weight, elephants are schlepping animals, not carrying animals
  13. Departure and landing times, both of which are times arriving/leaving gates.
  14. Every agency will take advantage of you, that is their business
  15. Nes Years celebrate starts immediately after Christmas celebration and ends sometime before mid of January... welcome to Thailand
  16. There us another priority line in arrival 1: go in on the right (Thai) side, turn sharp left on top of the short walk, and the priority / business entry is straight ahead. I used it yesterday morning, through after 3 minutes.
  17. They are not approved for age over 60
  18. Get yourself in a hospital for proper diagnosis before asking about a surgery you don't know you need. Drinking buddies are not good medical advisors...
  19. No, she doesn't need it. The change will be recorded in the database, and the owner of the old tabien baan can go into his amphoe and have the old entry removed. ID is all my wife and daughter needed.
  20. Expensive, but still cheaper than a long time stay in the ICU with a broken skull...
  21. Same here, unfortunately no vaccines for us old geezers...
  22. @LS24 There are 2 re-entry desks that I am aware of: First one is described by @Georgealbert correctly: "After check in, you go through security checks and then down the stairs to immigration. At the bottom of the stairs the re entry desk is on the right hand side, in the far corner. This is before going through passport control/stamping." Second one is when you go through the "new" fast track area next to check-in counter A: You have to go all the way through security and passport control and down to the duty free area, turn left and walk to the mystical figure, then turn left and walk up to the arrival immigration are. There again turn left before entering the immigration are, and the re-entry desk is located all the way in the corner. The first desk I know from walking past many times (last time in October), but never used it. The second one I used on 10 December this year during an emergency travel where I had no time for a "regular" immigration visit. It is a strange feeling to first get stamped out and only later to get the re-entry permit, but it works.
  23. There are certainly resorts / moo baans, where you live in a gated community mostly with foreigners (i.e. on Koh Chang Blue Haven, Siam Royal View), BUT... - most of them have Thai wifes, which would obviously bother you and - there are no shopping centers / restaurants in there, maybe a bar or a seven eleven, but that is it. So you would have to mingle with those pesky Thais, even though you seem to believe in freedom from harassement by the locals
  24. Don't worry, the half-half (Thai-Chinese) will not allow it
