  1. It's all ifs...if this needs replacing, if that needs replacing. Rolls Royces are pretty sturdy cars, even today. I doubt the suspension was damaged in what looks like just a fender bender to me. Probably more damage done to the front of the car that rear ended the Rolls. But yes. that will probably cost less than one replacement rear light on the RR. Article doesn't mention if the driver of the car that hit it had any insurance, but if you can afford to buy a Rolls here in Thailand, what with all the import fees, I suppose any repair costs are the last of your worries.
  2. Three of those with sticks look like they are going for his nuts. ????
  3. You can filter that down by adding the number that speak the same language as you.
  4. I wonder if he would have acted like that at a Chinese airport.
  5. In five years time, voter apathy and vote buying will ensure the electorate vote the "right way". GF said she will not vote for PT again after their tricks.
  6. When I renew my Non Imm 'O', I take a 12 month bank statement as requested. That way they can look back and see whether the 800K has moved or not in the past year.
  7. 55 years old? I hope he's not on a retirement visa. Big Joke will have another excuse to clamp down on us. He arrived on a motorcycle taxi so unlikely part of a biker gang. ???? Breaking those ivory tusks, let alone all the other damage, and a temple to boot. This might cost him a few quid.
  8. Probably a high heel. A bit stupid giving them his phone to look at if true as reported. These ladyboys seem to have a mean streak here. Must be those depressed male hormones. I wonder why he refused to press charges?
  9. The officer with the baton should have gone for the knee. The guy wouldn't have been swinging that skateboard anymore. Can't understand why the other two officers didn't help their colleague in making an arrest. Attacking a police officer in an airport where there is likely CCTV everywhere and an abundance of witnesses is not the most intelligent thing to do.
  10. My opinion. Samui has a bit of "something for everyone". What you do need to consider is that flights to and from BKK are expensive. Taxis are expensive so most people own or rent a small motorbike or scooter, and rents have apparently increased quite a bit since the invasion of Ukraine. Its probably still possible to find cheap deals though. The island has changed quite a bit since pre Covid. Places like Bangrak, which was an ideal, quieter place for retirees has morphed into a much busier places lined with many of the ubiquitous cannabis shops, and lots of traffic. New bars and restaurants opening all the time. Minibuses and taxis race here several times a day to meet the ferries to Koh Phangan, which causes traffic jams. Not the best beach due to all the speedboats. Choengmon and Maenam are quieter, but less facilities. Bang Por even quieter. Lamai, I can't comment on. The west coast south of Nathon, far too quiet for me personally.. Chaweng is the busy bar and club oriented area for young tourists, families and party animals. Also has the Central Festival Shopping Mall. In saying that, I have a retired friend who prefers to live there because everything he needs; (gym, supermarket, many restaurants and beach) is all within walking distance. In saying all that, Samui is ideally situated for visiting the other islands of Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Also ferries to the mainland. The air is clean. At least for now, and being further south the weather is nice and hot. I like it here
  11. The fake ones didn't stop the perpetrators getting caught. or the victims getting scammed. ????
  12. If this ever goes ahead, Samui will just turn into another Phuket. The traffic there is horrendous. It's already getting bad here, but with a bridge enabling unlimited visitors, the infrastructure will collapse. Waste mountain, no sewage system, hardly enough water or power as it is.
  13. My head hurts! The party with the most votes gets pushed aside so that everyone else can get to the trough.
  14. Oh come on! Can go online on booking.com and book a suite at the Oriental Bangkok. Might even get a discount.
  15. Yes. Likely as far away from any future meetings as possible. They don't want to get their limos scratched.
  16. Call 1175 and speak to a Customer Service Agent. They should be able to help you.
  17. Must be hell in this climate for long haired breeds. I always feel sorry for the Huskies I see everywhere here. Dogs bred for a cold environment, kept in tropical heat and humidity. As for the bulldogs and Frenchies with their breathing difficulties. It seems someone has at least come to their senses. I read about a breeder in Holland that is breeding French Bulldogs with longer noses for better health. They can breather easier, and from the photos I saw, they looked better as well. http://www.hawbucks.nl/franse-bulldog/en/ If I had a dog here it would be a smaller, short haired type. Not necessarily a particular breed. Even a mongrel can be a good family dog.
  18. They are probably running stocks down. It has disappeared off the shelves here, and wasn't on the shelves in the UK either last time I was there. I don't know why, maybe trends, but a lot of these deodorants, antiperspirants seem to come and go. Sanex was one. Rexon here seems to be the same as Sure in the UK. Has the same blue tick on the spray can, but seems to be smaller here. Nivea Black and White is OK.
  19. Flashing his todger in front of the alpha males harem probably upset him.
