Yes, the lighting is stepped down through individual transformers. I think you are correct because I have some LED tube lights in bathroom cabinets that flash. Though can only see it when dark.

Finally getting some rain this morning here in Samui, along with thunder and lightning. Never noticed this before, but each time lightning strikes, all my lights briefly flash. Even though not switched on. Does anyone know if this is a normal phenomenon? Or does it indicate a fault somewhere?

Gunfight erupts during wedding, 13-year-old boy injured in crossfire
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Surely deliberately shooting at someone with a gun should incur a stronger charge than bodily harm. The critically ill innocent 13 year old might agree. -
I think I know why they said "No! No! " in AIS... They don't cut keys. ????

Thailand’s cyanide serial killer claims another life, 14 victims so far

And two of the victims were police. There seems to be a lot of police involved on the wrong side of this case. -
Hospital Bill Paying via a Wise Transfer
phetphet replied to MJCM's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
i believe BKK Bank and one other bank (not sure which) can show as Foreign Transfer if sent for certain reasons.. If you possibly have one of those bank's accounts and put reason for transfer "retirement or long stay" I think, couldn't you send the money to yourself here, then transfer to hospital? You would still be paying it yourself, albeit from a Thai account. -
It might say 30 degrees on whatever site you are looking at, but believe me, it feels much hotter. It has been 36 in the shade in my open sided gym all week.

Thailand’s most polarizing family rises again before election
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Maybe, but the fly in the soup will be what she does to try and bring her father back without him facing judicial process or doing prison time. That alone might trigger another coup. Don't forget the outcry when auntie tried the same thing. -

I have found our postal service here in Samui to be pretty good. Whenever I send parcels or letters, I always ask for 'Tracked and to be signed for.' Especially when I send from Europe or the UK.
-
You can usually see the price including duty and separate price of postage before proceeding to payment. Sometimes choice of normal post or express post. Amazon include everything. Sometimes, several months later I occasionally get a small refund from them as duty was less than expected. I buy from both UK and US stores.

I posted my OP as though I have been receiving my work pension for almost five years, this was the first time I had received a P60 pointing out the tax I was paying. I found the wording on the Gov UK website regarding tax on pensions to be somewhat ambiguous. See below the main part that I wasn't sure about,. Which Is why I asked. If you’re not a UK resident, you don’t usually pay UK tax on your pension. But you might have to pay tax in the country you live in. This made me wrongly believe I could claim the UK tax back. I have gone through the figures and it seems you are correct. The first 12570 is tax free, and the remainder is taxed at 20%. It has also made me think about getting my tax affairs in order. Especially as I have shares which cannot be put into an ISA as a UK non resident, but which could be Iiable to CGT. Thanks to everyone, especially nigelforbes for all the advice and valuable info offered.

But looking at paragraph below, wouldn't it be possible to avoid any double taxation by Thailand on money earned outside by not bringing the money in in the same year it was earned? A resident of Thailand is liable for personal income tax on income from sources inside Thailand and on assessable income derived from sources outside Thailand. However, the imposition of tax on income derived outside Thailand will apply only to income derived and brought into Thailand in the same year in which such income is earned.
