I am a really bad sleeper. I find that not eating too late, not eating too many sweet things in the evening, and plenty of exercise all help. Since I have cut out bicuits (cookies for our American friends), in the evening, I sleep a lot better. The other thing is keeping the bedroom cool. I turn the aircon before I go to bed and also have a fan. I still tend to wake around 2 or 3 am, and turn the aircon on for a while to cool down again. Usually fall straight back to sleep again HTH

Its not that one is more important than the other. it's just that the media will publish any story that sells. Look how Ukraine is slowly dropping from front page headlines to a lesser spot in the international press. Pretty sure if Nong Nat ever decides to get back with Harold, or get her thre'penny bits out for a photoshoot, it will be all over Thai media regardless of any sad stories like the little girl. Stories sell!

Reducing my house electricity costs – any advice please .
phetphet replied to Custard boy's topic in The Electrical Forum
You will be amazed at how much cold air escapes through any gap under the door when the air con is on. I can stand outside my bedroom with the door closed, and can feel both the cold air blowing from three feet away, and how cold the floor tiles get. Now I just place an old towel on the floor inside when I go to bed. Another lighthearted suggestion. You and the wife could always shower together. ???? -
Travel inside Thailand without a passport
phetphet replied to Danderman123's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Immigration might hold your passport for a week to process your visa if they are really busy. I doubt they will hold it any longer than that. The only thing I can suggest is to ask them to provide a letter explaining that they are indeed holding your passport. Also take a photocopy of photo page and visa, and take along your Thai driving licence if you have one. HTH. -
Reducing my house electricity costs – any advice please .

You already have LED bulbs, but how about buying lower wattage ones? Possible to improve insulation in the room where you have air con? Maybe put a cloth or towel at the bottom of the door at night to prevent cold air seeping out under it. Maybe check no dust or fluff clogging up condenser at back of fridge? Lower temperature of shower. -
OK. It's in the Sun, but Arrest Warrant and Interpol Notice? Sound familiar? https://apple.news/At6GLbW86SdCpF0VS7-Sy3w

i knew someone that suffered with Tinnitus. He said that it sounded like a jet engine whooshing constantly in his ear, and almost drove him to suicide. He never cured it, but managed to learn to live with it thanks to specialist help. Hopefully what you have is not that and can be cured.

With the world economies suffering due to the fallout from both Covid and Ukraine, most people just haven't got the money for long haul holidays anywhere. Not only to Thailand. Trying to become the cannabis hub of Asia isn't going to be enough to overcome such an obstacle. Thailand is just going to have to be happy with the numbers they are getting until things improve. It also seems that they are shooting themselves in the foot with this obsession of trying to attract high spending arrivals at the expense of their usual 'bread and butter' lower spending ones. One minute they want the Europeans, next the Chinese, then the Indians. Then only the big spenders. No cohesive plan. Of course, adding new tourist arrival charges, dual pricing etc will always make the news and deter some travellers. But these are all secondary issues to the current world economy.

Used to use it for Tesco own brand and some other western goods, but less and less once Tesco sold it and those goods gradually disappeared. What was left was sold off cheap as the expiry dates passed. Now mostly use Tops or occasionally Makro. Also the local talad for fish and veggies.

New car time! This time - the 19 year old son

A bit late now you have already decided, but the new updated Honda BR-V (from 915,000) looks quite nice. 7 seater and seats fold down in the back to create space for his kit. -
Wasn't there a case where the husband was murdered on a yacht somewhere north of Phuket about five years ago? I think the wife was sleeping and some robbers boarded the boat. He disturbed them and was killed and his body thrown overboard. I think running costs will be going up sharply at the moment due to ongoing world crisis.

1Password has recently gone down the subscription route, and many people have stopped using it because they only allow storing of keys and synching via their own servers from 1Password 8. Huge thread about it here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1password-migrants-thread.2307443/ I use Enpass on my Mac, but it is also available for Windows. Possible to buy a one off Lifetime pass. Keep an eye out for discounts. It is not as polished as 1Password, but works pretty well. Also have a look here for software deals. Often password managers: https://stacksocial.com Here are some: https://stacksocial.com/search?utf8=✓&query=Password+Manager

I juist tried again. Still cannot access. I accessed this site: https://updownradar.com/status/aliexpress.com#comments and though it shows the site as up, there are many people reporting the same problem.

Anyone else having this problem? Only started today. When I try to sign in to Aliexpress on my computer, I get a message, " Service is unavalable. Please try again later." I have no problems accessing Aliexpress via the app on my phone, but its easier on my eyes using the computer. TIA

Do you have a local Makro? They sell the eggs in our one. Might be worth looking and seeing if there is a label on the box showing producer. Or maybe look in the local food markets or Talats and ask there. HTH

Surely the escalators are designed to operate fully loaded plus a margin of overload. Could be lack of maintenance, or just a part failure. I wonder if they will publish the result of any investigation into the cause.

It's the hottest time of the year where they come from (the Middle East). Often over 45 degrees Centigrade. .So they all get out. Go on holiday somewhere a bit cooler. It's like a reverse high season for westerners. They head for the sun, the arabs head for cooler climes. For them at least. The relatively poorer ones visit Pattaya or Phuket. The rich go to London or Paris. Many older ones take the opportunity to visit places like Bumrungrad for medical holidays. That's why it's so busy this time of year. Had or still have a similar problem in London. Especially around Knightsbridge. All the rich ones ship their Bugattis, Ferraris and Lamborghinis over and used to race around, The police stopped that, so they then used to rev their engines at night outside the packed bars and restaurants. Attention seeking. Several articles in the newspapers about expensive cars left in car pounds and forgotten about by owners after being towed away for parking offences. They just go home and buy a new one. Summertime in London you will see lots of these supercars driving around. Some tastelessly covered in gold film. Whole families come. The rich boys bring their cars, and the women empty the shelves in Harrods and Harvey Nicholls etc. It's an annual thing.

Clever if she gets nine lives. I wonder if she eats KitiKat.
