Not there! Your hybrid inverter will have a Grid input that goes to your meter (hopefully via a breaker) and a Load output that goes to your distribution board/consumer unit. Before we go too far down this rabbit hole please let us know exactly which inverter you have (post a photo of the rating plate on the side), We should be able to find a manual online. Whilst you're at it post some photos of your existing system so we can see what's what and what's not 🙂 This is from the Deye manual, but you should have something similar. You need to add another breaker between the grid and the inverter Grid input (it should actually already be there) then you can completely bypass the inverter and isolate the inverter input so you can safely work on/replace the beast. We are using a big automatic transfer switch wired so that if the inverter output fails, we switch to grid if available (or starts the genset if it's not). It means Madam doesn't need to do anything if it goes belly-up whilst I'm away. EDIT If the handle is straight up both inverter output and grid are OFF.

Some are, but I'm not one of them. If it's just for calling phones then Localphone looks like a reasonable solution. We shall see exactly what the migration to Teams looks like on that front.

Does it do PC-PC with video for free?? That's what we use Skype for. If, as Microsoft say, we can continue to use our existing Skype credits in Teams then that's what I'll do if I need to call a landline.

Great sisters think alike I'm pretty sure that's exactly what my sister is going to do. Line is nice and easy and (mostly) just works. Sadly, it doesn't call to landlines, I'll have to use Teams for that. They don't have a smartphone, but once the PC version is set up and the one-time-passcode entered it just works. Sis will put mums SIM in her phone to set up.

Both are now in their 90s and dad is registered blind so getting used to something new, isn't going to be easy 😞 Possibly Whatsapp would be easier than getting to grips with Teams. Here we go with the numbers from February. The period from the 15th to the 26th was dull and cloudy leading to Consumption being greater than Production and gradually discharging the batteries until we needed to use the grid 😞 Since our bill won't come until March 19th I'm hoping for a few more sunny days where we can get the batteries fully charged so we can export some juice (spin the meter backwards) reducing what we pay to PEA.

There are literally gazillions of suitable extensions with both 2 and 3 pin outlets. Spend a bit of cash and get one that looks reasonably robust, you don't want the plug wobbling around. If so, it will have a reference number which you can take to your local MEA/PEA office and they should be able to tell you what you owe. Your 9,000 BTU A/C will use about 900W when working hard, normally one assumes that a correctly sized unit will run at about 30%, so 300Wh (0.3kWh) per hour of use. Of course, total energy consumption is very much dependent upon the weather, you may find your unit struggles to maintain 21C during the warmer months.

Nearly, SOHCAHTOA, which everyone remembers, is a special instance that applies when one of the angles is 90o (right-angle triangle), the sine and cosine rules allow you to calculate missing sides and angles for any triangle. Moving right along. I was more than mildly surprised that my Grammar School trig. actually worked to calculate the cutting angles (nothing is at 90o, it's a scalene triangle so you can't just use Pythagoras, you need to remember the "rule of sines" etc.) resulting in minimal gaps when welding. For those worried about it blowing away in a breeze, each of the 6 "legs" has a 50x50x50cm cube of concrete (about 300kg each) buried in the ground. The area is also pretty well shaded from horizontal winds by the house and the garden wall. I've tried that in the past with my original micro-inverters. The net result was that the MPPTs wouldn't start at all 😞 I never investigated why, just used a mains power supply, current fans run off a 12V regulator from the battery packs.
