  1. ^^^ Commercially. The shops do it merely for coin, as they do by and large in the West of course, albeit not to the same cringe degree.
  2. This’ll get the lefties going. 😗
  3. Gawd, the ‘sir’ has spoken! Your debauched experiences are your own. Not everyone has an addictive nature. Legalising weed is one of the ballsiest things a government can do, ruffling the feathers of the dinosaur electorate and potentially affecting revenues from alcohol duty. On that score, ‘sir’, if you really want to make a difference, speak up about alcohol. That is the real problem!
  4. They are right to question it. Governments should leave tax well alone, unless it’s a reduction for the little man. Stop meddling for personal agendas and causing strife to ordinary people.
  5. Vet them as they come in rather put the onus on foreigners in general? We’re not all here to cause trouble, you know.
  6. I've got more cars than you. Na na na-na na! 😋 How does the Raptor go, btw?
  7. More likely that Putin would be removed if it looked like Russia were about to collapse since not everyone there with influence would want to be roasted alive. While of course good that Assad is out, the folks that will come in could make things worse. These guys do not get on with others and couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery... if they drank that is. The entire region is a complete cluster F.
  8. China again? They never stop giving.
  9. Muslim majority countries tend to really churn them out.
  10. Always seemed to have all three. Op, I get the appeal of not having kids but don’t reckon you’ve really ‘lived’ until you’ve experienced the trials & tribulations and sacrifice. Big issues to the childless often seem like small issues to parents. On getting older, aside from seeing others go, big plus is one is closer to the ‘end’. Just don’t dwell on it because it’s inevitable… or go holding angst and regret, since (if it is a thing) there’s more of a chance of getting flashed back to do this sht all over again. 🙂
  11. The entire West is broken. Damaging left wing ideals and feminisation of politics, unchecked immigration, the greed of the boomer generation, and meddling with Middle Eastern countries are mainly to blame imo.
  12. Tragic. Echoing the above, I never let them touch my neck. Far too much going on in that area even for someone that knows what they’re doing. Some Thai masseuses purposely go too hard thinking it fun and is only doing good.

    Yabba

If it's that bad, have you considered walking away, or at least moving elsewhere with wife? -- unlikely she'll give up on family.
  14. Don’t let these types wind you up. I would quote the oft used phrase—don’t feed the troll—but it would likely be deleted. Folks that repeatedly shove their point across in the same thread don’t usually have the best intentions. This beaut right here should be in most ‘ignore’ lists.
  15. ‘In’ foreign countries. Stroll on. It’s like pulling teeth!
  16. Alright for your Thai pilots to fly in foreign countries though, eh Mr Teerawat! If you want to truly be a part of the global marketplace, you gotta open up and MOVE FORWARD!
  17. Careful careful, you’ve only been in for 5m. I smell a coup 😋. While a step in the right direction, unless you take away their guns and fear/loyalty from the soldiers, it would not stop a few disgruntled ‘generals’ from taking action. Stifling corruption and wholesale change of mindset is required for democracy to work.
  18. It’ll be an incident like this that will kick it off. And Trump won’t be pulling out of NATO lol. The US gains a massive amount from Europe from being part of it. He just doesn’t know the full story or is winding people up.
  19. Ideal. The tobacco industry (which, like beer, has big influence) doesn’t want vaping here for the obvious reason. This or that mouthpiece doctor might harp on about ill effects, but compared to tobacco?!
  20. Give me strength, why do you guys dive in without processing the op? Everyone and their cat knows you can get a meal for 40-50 baht with free water, but he is clearly not alluding to that kind of meal or establishment. How many khao man gai / pad thai places do you know that serve wine and free bread & tapas? You would look a right oddball sipping cheap plonk on your plastic roadside stool. So funny. /Edit: sorry, just noticed your nik. No worries.//
  21. For sure. Me too. But the wine is a big deal (at least 150 a glass of cheap plonk) as is location. Ralf keeps harping on about Nongnowhere… people are misreading the op. Beachside restaurant in first world country (at least I think Spain is), meal with wine and extras thrown in. I bet it was a good meal in a well kitted out restaurant, clean and served promptly. I think the point being, Thailand is not cheap; at least nowhere near what it was — Vietnam and Cambodia are cheap. Start getting into nicer restaurants in Bangkok or Phuket and you will pay handsomely… waaay more than you would in Spain.
  22. 🤣 Nong where? 🤣 With wine? Wthaever you say, dude. Look at the pic again.
  23. Someone mentioned women. If you can't pull in Spain, then you've got a problem... or possibly the wrong side of 80.
  24. You will generally not get that kind of meal -- WITH wine, extras and decent condiments -- at a comparable beach restaurant in a comparable part (or anywhere) of Thailand, and I live in a non-touristy area. 200 baht? 🤣 I love Thailand and will probably die here, but some of you guys are living in cloud cuckoo-land with your blind defence of the place. It was cheap once upon a time, but many things are now more expensive than in European countries, esp Spain. Even groceries in the UK are way cheaper... your boxes ion packet noodles aside. Perhaps someone will find something comparable lol in some dingy restaurant in that world class family resort called Pattaya, but what the op is showing here is the norm. Other areas of Spain are cheaper than Torrevieja, then get across to Portugal and it goes down again. Then you have your healthcare and easy visas.
  25. They seem to have a habit of cancelling flights though.
