  1. .......................just when you think you've lived long enough to have seen it all, along comes another Gyro Gearloose.
  2. I'm surprised to see PEA even entertain time of use arrangement. In Aus at least, if you want a battery system with grid feedback, you don't get a penny for what you feed back to the grid. I expect they apply the "have your cake and eat it too" as not being acceptable. Off topis perhaps but I see one of the WA energy suppliers wants to offer people $100 to allow them to turn off their feed back when and how they(the energy supplier) see fit. Age old problem, energy suppliers have no way of regulating what is coming into the grid, short of turning off feed back. Oversight, don't think so,overruled by pollies more likely. So much for green planet, this at a time when energy is in short supply and hot summer on the horizon.
  3. Point is...he is a foreigner with no respect for the country he is in or the safety or otherwise of the people. Regardless of what the local kids may or may not do on their machines. They can deal with that in their own way. Show him the door, don't let him back in again, and take the bike and crush it. Let it be a lesson to others as well.
  4. Simply a matter of lack of preventative maintenance. I've had motor vehicles much older than that (45 years old in fact) and never had a breakdown or "burst into flames".
  5. That's always the problem...........the guts is scattered all over the interior leaving only the ends free.
  6. Sounds like a cop out to me. Usually one finds elements somewhere, not necessarily original but replacement just the same. Manufacturers of ovens and the like very rarely make the elements themselves. As example, not uncommon for us to do repairs/replacement elements on equipment 50 years old here in Aus. Why bother you say.? Look at the cost of new considering just what is in the package. If you provide model, make, any details shown on the equipment , you may get people doing a search for you instead of just guessing and then commenting. https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=Teka+Oven+Element&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&loc=1000339&mktype=&sitelnk=&poi=&cmpgn=1747724875&rlsatarget=kwd-313959997602&geo_id=32586&network=g&mkscid=102&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-4DYi-OPggMVnKJmAh1VCguYEAAYASAAEgIbAPD_BwE&mkcid=2&_odkw=Teka+Oven+Element&norover=1&MT_ID=584826&adpos=&adgroupid=66419057977&matchtype=p&abcId=1140616&keyword=teka+oven+element&mkrid=705-155027-035390-3&crlp=433490773420_&device=c
  7. hehehehe...yes....we always complain about that and avoid using anything with that physical constraint. It's alway had me wondering why they do this...when we prewire an installation, the light cable is ALWAYS taken to the centre of where the light will locate. Same on existing installs. Only 2 options you have.....one, take it back and get one that suits........two, relocate your wiring entry point in the ceiling. (latter a right pain in the butt even when one knows what they are doing) We opt for number one ...always. If customer insists on using these brumby fittings, we tell them the extra cost involved ( usually double) and it's amazing how quickly these fittings are returned to whenceforth they came.
  8. "your"...surely you mean "you're" as in you are....get an education..... hehehehehe,,,wrong again boofhead,
  9. https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/politics/public-servants-in-queensland-offered-paid-leave-after-voice-defeat/video/8dca64742b22f94f3d027ec2d4e1b99a Here's the thing...It IS offerered to ALL........some may take it, some may not......... I'd be willing to bet 6to4 on that most who take it voted NO anyhow........ and the thing is.....it was as always a secret vote...... So who the hell would know if one or the other is actually entitled (term used very loosely I might add) to take the offer. Talk about argue the point...get some brains and work it out. It's a bulls**t move on the part of the government, and they should be hauled over the coals over it. Next thing we'll see the same offer applied when some have a particular defeat in a regular election...........just b/s.
  10. ..............And the latest for all the snowflakes.......Qld government , yes Qld believe it or not where the No result was around 70%.....have decided to give ALL public servants paid 5 days leave so they can get over the trauma of the Yes being defeated. It beggers belief..........end of this crap not in sight yet.
  11. Just out of interest, these are the "accolated standard fees" involved at each of these ceremonies, presumably ordered by Albo and his croonies to prop up their Yes campaign. https://code.visualarts.net.au/payment-rates/fees/first-nations-cultural-ceremonies-and-services I have heard that international visitors are getting sick of this welcome to country bulldust every time an overseas aircraft lands in Aus. as well. Add to this the seemingly constant name changes to Islands, land areas, lakes etc etc...........even for a local, it is a matter of having to Google where the hell the latest news clip is referring to. Enough is enough, better if they simply got a job.
  12. .............And the latest is all the indigenous mobs from the city have cracked a wobbley and said "no more welcome to country ceremonies". Sort of like taking your marbles and going home........ All I can say to that is good riddance and start the cost savings........... who knows how many and how much each one of these "ceremonies" cost the taxpayer. I think, if Jacinta Price gets any power to do so, many will have to answer these and more costs inquiries. Many will be running for cover I think taking the "books" (if any exist now or ever) with them.
  13. Obviously that would be political suicide. Lidia Thorpe is basically a raving ratbag who won't be around too long. In contrast, I can see Jacinta Price being prime minister, bypass Peter Dutton all together.
  14. Took all of 20 minutes after the polls closed for the powers that be to decide they can stick their proposed constitution changes. Could not believe how quick they managed to get the result. Maybe those speed signs written over changing 110 to NO did the trick. When elections are on it can take a week or more. Bit more complex I guess with their preferential voting system. Maybe they should change the voting system in general elections to either a yes or no......... remember old Bejelke Petersen wanted a "first past thepost" election system introduced way back when.
  15. Me too...... ???? First photo doesn't add up to your explanation.............is power coming directly into this "switch box" first or does it come via the float switch. i.e. what is the small black cable lower left connected to the "house pump" switch? Is that the cable going to your house pump Cannot say for certain (too little detail) but it certainly "looks like" someone was after some free power with that extra cable...... ????
  16. You forgot to knock off the bottom half of the sine wave, which, when in use, loaded filtered and all the jelly beans removed, will be 1/2 of that.(approx) Known as half wave rectification...don't believe it...?? look it up... educate yourself.
  17. So no trouble finding flights for 10,000 Israelites to come here but cannot find any way to get a couple of hundred Thais back home out of danger.
  18. Correct but....the output shown is only half wave rectification so the output value shown is incorrect. It's actually closer to 1/2 that shown.
  19. Also be aware your 24VAC when rectified and smoothed will give you approx. 1.4 times the AC figure ........ so expect 33.6v DC on the output. This may or may not be a problem as the details of the valve are not shown here. Might pay to give some thought to a "pulsed" type valve which opens and closes with a voltage pulse (and usually lower voltage around 12v) rather than needing continual power to remain open. Might also pay to look at plug pack type supply (smps) as they already have everything needed and are all enclosed for your safety.(and probably much cheaper alternative) 12v are more common type. Each of the valve types have their advantages/ disadvantages.
  20. Those things are rubbish, for several reasons. They made them compulsory install here for a couple of years about 10 years ago, and were removed within 2 to 3 years at considerable cost I might add. Been removed all over, replaced with the age old storage units. Claims they make were at best, wildly over rated.
  21. Yes, before breakfast comment, seldom any good at that time. Cheers...........
  22. Single width RCBO's have been around for donkey's ages......... I'd say at least 15 years.
  23. Just be warned that any insulation with aluminium or foil covering installed on ceiling is considered extremely dangerous. It was used on the ceiling in Aus in the "crazy polly period" where everybody jack and his mates were issued with "insulation installation licences" in an attempt to carry out the insulation era while the pollies were still in office. Turns out ( surprise .........surprise) that it is conductive and a couple of people including one apprentice were electrocuted working in the ceiling space after the install. Now some will say....what about safety switches............ well, they don't save you if incoming mains are exposed or become faulty.....and as it turns out, diluties know no better. End result was, any used had to be removed and now it is a mandatory requirement that all power be cut at the main switch before entering a ceiling by any tradesperson. Sadly though, the D*** heads who make these rules failed to recognise that incoming mains cannot be isolated, at least by "any tradesperson". Then there are the situations such as hospitals but that's another story.
