  1. I have done both. I used my Visa the last time because I did not want o bring 40,000 Baht in cash to the hospital. I could not find an ATM inside of CM Ram hospital. If the bill was expected to be around 10K then I would pay cash.

  3. Mine said a follow up email will notify me of the location of the event. Thanks from Capt Obvious. I registered on Aug 18 and so far no reply from the consulate. Ok I registered again and now the registration form has the location of the event on top of the form. When I registered on Aug 23 the location was not on top of the of form and it indicated the location had not be determined yet. Or I just missed it. You are right it is rather out of the way.
  4. I never got a email reply about he location of this event? It is suppose to be tomorrow.
  5. 1. Japs? What are we in 1943? 2. This might be a mistake by ANA. A week in Japan(especially in the major cities) is comparable to three weeks in BKK. The cost differential between visiting LOS and the Land of the Rising Sun is huge. The longest I have stayed in Japan was 4 days and it was expensive just for a decent hotel and food. A Taxi ride from NRT to central Tokyo was almost $80 dollars., I had a large suitcase and just did not feel like taking the train/metro. Doubt I will go back to Japan but if I did I would take the train from the airport. Of course now Haneda is the preferred airport which is closer to the city.
  6. I can get a Hot Dog and a Coke from just about anywhere but I grew up on In N Out. Double, Double, fries and a Coke will be my first meal after I get the car from Hertz.
  7. I am going to Los Angeles next week. The only time I am in the city of LA is at the airport. The following places are still worth a visit or stay: 1. South Orange County. Places like Irvine, Newport Beach or San Clemente 2. The Coachella Valley (Palm Springs or Rancho Mirage) is worth a road trip 3. Most parts of San Diego County are still worth a visit. I usually stay within shouting distance of Camp Pendelton (cities like Oceanside have not been ruined yet). 4. In LA County I always go back to my hometown of Torrance which is about 15 miles south of LAX. There are some shady areas but is mostly still worth it. I am looking forward to N out burger, Chik Fil A and even a cheap Pecan Pie from Wal Mart. I guess I am different but I still enjoy my annual visits back to the USA. Others will disagree.
  8. I thought he was an international fugitive. He was escorted out of the jet and all smiles. Does he get booked, face a judge or have to post bail? From what I saw it looked rather low key and anticlimactic? Is he really going to jail/prison?
  9. That’s the headline but the article implies that the shocks were an issue? As normal news articles translated into English can cause more confusion than clarity.
  10. Do not see what the issue is. If an Airline can require a large passenger to buy two seats then the Food Delivery driver who can offer cheap rides can decline a customer for safety reasons.
  11. My parents came to America with very little. Life was never easy but I found opportunities to improve my life many times. It all started with the. US Army and then I was able to work and find other opportunities. I still have allegiance, loyalty and a dose of patriotism. As a long time international traveler I just don’t broadcast my thoughts out loud. I am certain at some point I will return to the USA on a permanent basis. Also on the US Income Tax issue I pay because my retirement income comes from the State of California so I can’t exclude that no matter where I am in the world. When I worked in the Middle East I was able to exclude this income because it was earned overseas.
  12. My #1 requirement is an international airport. Cebu meets that requirement.
  13. First youtube video about Dumagette I saw was in 2015. It was popular back then. A current youtuber in the Phils (that is what he calls it) said Dumagette is now overrun with foreigners. I am going to Cebu later this year to see if I want to make the Phils my next destination.
  14. Sarcasm. Some get it, some don’t Do you really think I was being serious in my reply? You started it. I made a general comment that was not directed at anyone. I do not know who or what your are so I do not know whether it was “jokey banter” or not. If this is :”sniffy butt hurt attitude” to you then so be ti. I would not disagree with your opinion.
  15. Yes because it is deep, murky and infested with sharks.
  16. Thank you. It’s amazing that you knew what I looked like when I was in my 30’s and 40’s.
  17. I have encountered many just like this one when I was in the dating pool in Southern California during the 1990’s and 2000’s. The other kind I encountered were the feminist/equality type who got offended when a man would approach her and offer buy them a drink. “What, you don’t think I can’t afford to pay for my own drink”????? Dating in American is like “catch 22”. I have never been married and had little desire for it.
  18. No because I will fly them again because it is a nonstop flight from CNX to SIN. From SIN then onwards to the first world.
  19. Have experienced what an “upgrade” is like on Scoot? Also, Scoot like Air Asia charges for almost everything. I was shocked when Scoot did not charge me for having a backpack as I checked in.
  20. CNX to SIN is on Scoot(SIA's low cost carrier). Scoot uses an old A320 for this segment. The experience with Scoot from CNX to SIN was less than impressive. Do you know what type of aircraft is from SIN to BNE? It could be B777, B787 or A350-900? Aircraft type would probably answer your question.
  21. Maybe it should have been something like "Ministry for Enviornmental Protection and Sustainable Development"???
  22. You summed it up: "Cost effective for Americans" and many other foreigners. If it was not then how many foreigners would stay?
  23. Ok. Captain Obvious, thank you. I said "what he is like" not what he looks like"? Sometimes an ambassador speaks like a real person and not like a career bureaucrat. I heard two Ambassadors to Afghanistan speak in Kabul. One was a retired Army General and the other was a State Department lifer.
