Had some idea about how to push Krating Daeng into corner to get the family to hand over their son, but... pointless. Deleting post. -
looking for a pataya Lawer to get a divorce . Thai+ Falang
tomazbodner replied to yeahbutif's topic in Pattaya
Were they married in Thailand or in Germany? While I can't say for Germany, in another EU country, it is possible to get this done through the embassy. 10 years away is a case of abandonment (I think that's when it's over 2 years) and divorce can be triggered in Thailand, if married in Thailand. If married abroad, then embassy of that country can have some forms filled out by the Thai and would require that person to visit embassy at his country to fill out the paperwork to proceed with divorce. Not personally involved in this but had a colleague who went through this and it took a couple of years but ended up successfully. Without lawyers, although a lawyer I know gave advice to approach the embassy after foreign man ignored all calls to do his part previously. Send a mail to German embassy in Bangkok, tell the problem, and I am confident they would help and give procedure to get it done. May need to visit embassy a couple of times and get some documents certified and provided. In colleague's case it took about 6 months after getting embassy involved for it to get completed. They were married in the Netherlands. -

Chaos Reported At Phuket Airport With Over 300 Passengers In Trouble
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Would put me off flying VietJet.. The reason for the chaos in sum: One of planes didn't fly from BKK to HKT, so some passengers were juggled around, but after plane took off from Phuket back to BKK, they found extra passengers on board, so they returned and landed back in Phuket. As it was late and airport closed, they couldn't take off again so they let all passengers sit at the airport until the morning when another plane picked them up. https://thainewsroom.com/2022/12/02/plane-returns-to-phuket-airport-after-extra-passenger-found-on-board/ -
Thailand goes into battle against resurgent HIV/AIDS
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Saw this article, maybe glimpse of hope for some: https://edition.cnn.com/2022/12/01/health/hiv-vaccine-phase-1-study/index.html Though with anti-vaccine sentiment, I doubt this would make much of a difference, even if working perfectly... -
Bitcoin Family in Phuket
tomazbodner replied to Neeranam's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
This was posted by ECB... https://www.ecb.europa.eu/press/blog/date/2022/html/ecb.blog221130~5301eecd19.en.html Though there's one thing I disagree with this article. People's greed and stupidity. So Bitcoin could as well be around for a long time. -
Netizens Blast Building A Drain Higher Than The Road

Netizens don't get it. This is a fortuneteller drain. It tells what the level of the road will be in the near future! -
I just received a bunch of stuff from US, bought from eBay, and it had all the customs duties pre-paid, delivered hassle free to my door. There must be an option to calculate and prepay any customs fees. Given how much shipping costs lately, and that it is included in base to calculate the import duties, just shipping alone would already reach or exceed the duty-free limit. Sometimes post parcels don't get inspected if they are small and look unimportant, declared at a low value as a gift. But if they get checked, you might need a trip to post office. On the other hand the couriers declare and pay importing duties on everything, but then might call you and ask you to pay the import duty on their website with a credit card before they forward the package to you. Not sure if any of these seems a better option for you.

I claimed the same, taxi drivers proved me wrong.

You're right. Lived there for 15 years but just moved out of there close to 2 years back (all that shooting that happened years earlier and looked like it would happen again), so I forgot the other exit to Ideo Verve, although I took it sooooo many times when stopping at MaxValu... before it closed, like most stuff around there. Thanks for reminding me of the area ????

Just heard from my friend arriving that it was 700 baht one time, and 1200 baht the second time for taxi from Swampy. They didn't even want to hear about using a meter. That's the official taxi counter on ground floor. Before COVID going to about the same area I'd have about 200-250 baht on the meter, plus the 50 baht fee. 700/1200 baht seems like a rip off, to the point I'd rather recommend anyone arriving to take ARL to Ratchaprarop or Phyathai and taxi from there to save both time and money.

Your direction (south towards Lumpini station) the biggest crowd would be 8 am to about 9.30 am, and northbound after about 5 pm to about 8 pm. Going south you should be fine if you come anytime after 9.30 am, which would probably mean leaving Suvarnabhumi by ARL after 9 am.
-
Ratchaprarop is one way most of the time. So he should get off at Phyathai to go south, while Ratchaprarop is good going north. For taxi it's hard to make a right-turn so close to station. Great point. Asoke and Petchaburi MRT stations are a mess during rush hour, especially north bound.

It is probably 400-500m walk down from platform to road level by escalators, u-turn and down another level to MRT. There will be security check and your bag will probably beep. It should not be as bad as getting off Maglev in Shanghai where they take everything out of your bag for inspection, but they could ask you to open it. Then it's another set of escalators down to ticket office level and one more to trains. I'd say you could do it in 5-10 minutes walking.

True. Even land department officers call it "Chanote".

Maybe you can just buy their entire staff database with all their home phone numbers, email addresses, addresses, bank accounts, etc. I bet they'll send someone over.. if they ever notice... https://grahamcluley.com/ouch-ransomware-gang-says-it-wont-attack-airasia-again-due-to-the-chaotic-organisation-and-sloppy-security-of-hacked-companys-network/ -
Possible COVID infected man found dead in Bangkok’s Din Daeng area
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
What would you prefer? COVID-19 = CO for Corona, VI for Virus, D for Disease and 19 for year of reporting Or would you prefer SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) CoV-2 (Corona Virus - 2)? Or maybe you're upset about ATK... Antigen Test Kit? Or EMT? Emergency Medical Technicians? Can't see any other "all Upper Case letters" words in the above article nor linked one. Abbreviations are generally written in capital letters. -

They just fined and scared a bunch of Bolt drivers at Central 1-2 days ago, so maybe competition is now gone, so they can charge anything.

Is it true FRUITS are banned to enter Thailand?
tomazbodner replied to arfandy's topic in General Topics
Your assumption would be correct. If you declare it, it will be confiscated, if you don't declare it, and your bags get inspected, it will be confiscated and you may be fined as well.
