  1. From what I remember, NDID cannot be used by non-Thais. So how does a foreigner make a transaction then, if all larger transactions were to require NDID? Enrollment Conditions For Thai nationals only Required to have completed the Know Your Customer (KYC) process to apply for products at Bangkok Bank branch before e.g. savings account Enrollment is available via Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking application only. Enrollment is available on the application every day from 07:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Digital-Banking/NDID
  2. Middle of the night, wife wakes up husband and whispers: There's a burglar downstairs! He broke into kitchen and is eating the cake I just baked yesterday... Husband: OKkkk, who should I call to come then? Police or ambulance?
  3. I have a question on that split. If 2 people marry, and one of them bought a property on loan, which hasn't yet been paid off on the day of marriage, does that property also get included in 50:50 split? Example: one of them bought a house on say 10 year loan, it is say 8 years paid off already, 20% left (for the figure), when the couple gets married. If they later divorce - what happens to the house? Is the other partner entitled to half of 20% or half of the whole house? Have a friend who married a German guy and borrowed from others to pay off the condo loan before wedding to avoid him getting 50% in case they divorced. I was wondering if that was necessary.
  4. That's absolutely NOT true. Though a percentage of <deleted> around Ratchaprasong, preying on tourists is far above the average. Possibly only airports (and Pattaya/Phuket) can top that.
  5. How many times does it have to state that car had "significant damage"? This is not significant damage. It takes a day in garage to get a new light fixture, pull out the metal, plaster, polish and respray it. Significant damage would be if the entire front got smashed to pieces. Notice the difference?
  6. There's more development on this, and it's a personal one for someone in this forum:
  7. TAT should reward her for bringin in wealthy Indians, then stripping them of all their cash and squeezing some more to avoid jail before deportation. Amazing Thailand!
  8. WF99 for pollution as they fit my face well, but could be too big for some. Though I bought most of them at Diamond Pharmacy next to Siriraj hospital. Honestly, I did not expect dreadful air quality to last this long. So I had to stock up a couple of times now.
  9. DELETED Given the greed involved, she might sue me.
  10. If you have iPhone, you could enable Wifi-Calling in Phone app settings, which will route all calls and SMS over the internet to your phone. In that case messages and calls will be received anywhere in the World, as if you were physically in Thailand. No roaming is needed.
  11. On 1) the requirements are only for opening account, not for keeping it. So yes, you should be able to keep it as long as there is money in the account that supports the annual fees deduction and has some activity on it. 2) I don't use their app, only their website, which requires OTP only, and that OTP is to the Thai phone number registered with the account. That may be a way around using phone outside Thailand, but you would have to keep Thai number registered. If it's pre-paid, you can top it up in several installments, to extend validity up to 1 year.
  12. Well, she violated that rule at least 14 times so far, didn't she?
  13. If this is indeed true, she should sue the bank, and not only for 2 million baht.
  14. How can you say what it looks like when you can't read it? 3. Customer, who is classified under clause 1.1.1 and does not consume over 50 kWh, will receive free electricity for that month until December 2015. From January 2016 onwards, the customer who is classified under clause 1.1.1, who is not a juristic person, and does not consume over 50 kWh for 3 consecutive months (including the current month), will receive free electricity for that month.
  15. That "red shirts" mostly pay nothing for electricity.
  16. Not aware of any set amount for bank transfers, but there are limits that some refer to above, for bringing cash in or taking out of the country. For that it is 20,000 USD or equivalent for foreign currencies, and 500,000 THB. Same limits are imposed both directions. That's from the customs website I was digging through for something else last week. EDIT: Forgot to mention - that are limits of bringing currency without declaration. If amount is higher, it needs to be declared.
  17. Actually she killed 5, including her own boyfriend. She's either facing life sentence OR 15-20 year imprisonment. I certainly hope it's not going to be the latter. Released, she would certainly continue her killing spree, as she would have if she had not been caught.
  18. Just searched for where my idea that this scheme ended came from, and here it is: The free-to-ride bus project was launched by the People's Power Party-led government in 2008 to help low-income people for six months. It has since been extended every six months by subsequent governments [SNIP] Free rides on selected public buses and trains will be extended for another three months, until the end of January, Deputy Transport Minister Ormsin Chivapruck said on Tuesday. This was published on 15 October, 2015. So basically, the scheme ended at the end of January, 2016.
  19. They are still running? I remember that it was even before COVID when BMA ended that scheme and I haven't seen any such bus since, at least in the area where I used to live. If they are still running, that would be good for the poor people in need to move around. And from photo of the pink taxi next to it, seems some may still be running as that's newer Corolla model than when I thought scheme ended. Ignore my post above, then.
  20. Years ago I stepped into a (non-aircon) bus as I was in a hurry and when trying to pay, I was told that bus was free. It was a red bus with green line (government owned). That was running for several years, apparently, but that was my only time on one. I've seen them later though, and they have a Thai word for FREE on the plate next to driver. Now, from what I remember, that scheme was cancelled a long time back. There are some venues that offer free buses and boats still, and those that I know of are Asiatique has a boat from Saphan Thaksin, there are hotel boats like Hilton has free boat from Saphan Thaksin and from River City, many other hotels by the river have free boats to Saphan Thaksin, and so does (did?) ICON Siam. There is a free shuttle bus between Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports, but I believe you need to show onwards flight ticket to board. There are free shuttle buses from Huamark to Bang Sue train terminals. There's a shuttle between Ploenchit BTS station and All Seasons Place. And between Udomsuk BTS and IKEA/Mega Bangna. Those are at least what I've seen. But I doubt that's what the OP meant. I believe he was inquiring about the free bus scheme from 10 years ago or so, where several lines were paid for by the BMA to cover the whole city by free bus transport. That ended many years back.
  21. Yesterday people started complaining a lot about electricity bills in our condo. Today went down and saw 100+ sitting in the lobby... as it's air conditioned... Inflation does strange things.
