  1. Getting 960-980 mbps up and down on MOCA 2.5, between 750 and 850 mbps on Wifi ax (a bit less on ac), and about 1900-1950 down/970-980 mbps up via 10 gbps network adapter (on custom built i9 iMac), connected through Netgear switch. True Gigatex 2000/1000 fiber. Note: used Speedtest app from Ookla, installed, to nearest server. What I do with it? Nothing. Work from home from start of COVID. Probably 30 mbps would suffice but it's really cool to run speedtest and look at the needle go to max immediately... Or clicking download and not realising it's already completed so you keep clicking on download link just to end up with 15 copies of the file... Updating OS is great though. Whole OS update of a couple of GB downloads in seconds. And using several computers, downloading or streaming at the same time obviously has no dent on internet speed.
  2. Maybe it's because Bolt is half cheaper than Grab, so probably drivers get less from Bolt than from Grab for same ride, hence prefer to drive for Grab?
  3. Probably same words Thai wives would say to Farang husband after building the house on their land...
  4. Yes, he's so afraid of getting anything from masked up Prayuth that he took all safety measures possible not to get exposed to anything...
  5. How does it compare with Benzbromarone? I found this by googling and neither looks good. I've been using Benzbromarone for several years now... Heart-related effects. Another key study found that febuxostat is linked to a higher risk of heart-related deaths than allopurinol. As a result, experts recommend allopurinol over febuxostat — especially for people with the following: Heart disease due to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)Jan 7, 2565 BE But then: Benzbromarone is a nonpurine xanthine oxidase inhibitor used for the treatment of gout, but never approved for use in the United States because of concerns over reports of acute liver injury and deaths with its use.
  6. From linked article: A protest leader, Baramee Chairat, representing the Assembly of the Poor, told the police to disperse and allow the protesters to march to the convention centre to submit their petition to the APEC leaders. He gave the police 10 minutes to move away, warning that the protesters would try to break through the police cordon. Quite amazing to read this...
  7. The one thing that has severely suffered during pandemic, and has nearly evaporated by the time it was over, is empathy. People as a whole became self-centered, self-serving, the egos have grown out of proportions, everyone else is blamed for their own misery, all the kindness and care for others has mostly disappeared. It's all about "me, me, MEEEEEEEE!" and it is evident not just in this mask or no mask topic, but in daily incidents the World over. The posters here should remember something, however. You are guests in another country. Disrespecting the customs of your hosts. Do you think that makes them like you more, or despise you and only tolerate you as long as you're bringing in the money? Or, do you think it's OK if others bring their bad habits to your countries? Many of those are considered crimes in the West, and some immigrants are hated for their behavior. That's just tables turned. If you want to do whatever you want to do with no respect for your hosts in Thailand, you should also allow that refugees and immigrants to do whatever they want to do in your own countries. Fair? Probably only until your daughter gets raped and killed. Like when some infected maskless farang coughs in the face of a frail grandpa who dies of infection. Same same, right?
  8. Just did it minutes ago, and yes, the photo taking thingy for documents is a bit dodgy - on iPhone the screen was black, and on Android it showed but zoomed in and out arbitrarily on each attempt. So I just took photo and when seeing preview, tapped on Retake photo. After a couple of attempts it was what I wanted it to be. This could be hassle if you have a phone with not very good camera and try to take photos in low light - as that would extend the exposure time and lead to photo being blurred. Try more light, or different phone (seems you can take this with any phone) with a better camera.
  9. Seems the explosion was caused by the Ukrainian air defense system, according to latest reports from Poland.
  10. There was Russian-made drone that "landed" in Zagreb, Croatia some 6 months back or so... That's a whole lot more than 70 km. https://www.rferl.org/a/zagreb-drone-explosives-russia-ukraine/31802023.html
  11. True, but Ukraine is a massive country, and 70km is close. Kinda like Aussies going from Melbourne to Sydney for coffee... (ok, just kidding on that one).
  12. A university in US managed to combine original Wuhan virus with Omicron, to make it as easy to transmit as Omicron, but has 80% fatality rate (they tested this on mice, where omicron killed none, this virus killed 8/10). I just wonder with the news like this hitting the internet, and knowing how unprotected university labs are - how long would it take before that samples are stolen and distributed to public by some doomsday preacher. It would be a perfect time for that as well, since we're now in "mai pen rai" ignorance period, where people are fed up listening about it and downplay it. Actually, if that uni lab could do it, how difficult would it be for some threat actor else to do the same?
  13. Poland's government is CONSIDERING invoking Article 4 (not 5). Russia denies involvement, stating they have not been operating anywhere near Polish border (despite Lviv being bombarded which is very close). Do you believe Russia? Well... here's the thing. No matter how we wish to simplify this down to the commander in chief knowing what his Lemmings are doing, reality is that Russian army is far from disciplined, not particularly well trained and not very well armed, apart from the centrally controlled precision weapons which were already used up. While it could, of course, be a plot to test how NATO would respond, at least in my opinion it is more likely that this was inexperienced soldiers messing up. There are no Google Maps superimposed borders in real life, and projectiles are also unaware of borders. Those living next to borders with nations in conflict are quite often recipients of unwelcome packages, which mostly isn't intentional. Nonetheless, this is a serious escalation of conflict.
  14. I have Bose QuietComfort 35 II and while they suck in sound quality (yes, I know, you'd expect them to sound awesome, given the brand), their noise cancelling on the plane is phenomenal. The only issue is if you lean to the side so the casing touches anything, then they start making lots of unwelcome noise - so really only useful if you lay your head back straight. Bose did make in-ear version, which I have not tested but was told it's using same algorithm, so it should be equally as good. While not on the plane, I've just tried side-by-side in a noisy place my Bose and Sony WH-1000MX4, and could not tell the difference in performance. If anything, Sony's tighter seal makes them feel better than the loose Bose QC feeling. Sonys are heavier, though, and sound much better. Both Bose and Sony should be possible to be acquired close to your budget now that they are both old models. On that sound quality - Bose doesn't sound total rubbish. No, it is just that I am spoiled for Sony XBS and VModa Crossfade sound, which is punchy... powerful. Bose QC35II sounds very nice at very low volumes. But the moment you crank up the volume, the bass disappears. It's even worse if you use cable to connect - applaud them for adding that cable and airplane socket adapter, allowing you to use headphones in wired mode when convenient or battery flat, it's just... the sound isn't actually much better than the cheap earphones airlines provide you with. That's terribly disappointing for this brand and that cost of cans. Sony WH-1000 does not suffer from the same symptoms and produces powerful sound at any (reasonable) volume.
  15. I've written that off as well, my booking was with THG. But after many months of waiting and not much if any movement from them, I got Astra Zeneca from Lat Phrao hospital instead, which was apart from admin fees like 150 or something, free. Social Security Office offered me Pfizer booster at Jewelry Trade Center and I took that, which was completely free of charge. I'm still receiving messages from THG on Line application, but none that my queue is ready. In fact, a few months back I just deleted their chat, as I'm not getting anything from them anyway. Just pity I paid them for both shots, not just one. But... lesson learned. Despite all this, I do hope THG or whoever else, still provides alternatives if government fails to deliver on promises. Just maybe in a way that is less threatening to health ministry might be more effective.
  16. Maybe different in your case. On mine, main fan was making mosquito like noise that you didn't really hear unless you turned off the aircons. But even when the main fan was turned off, I still heard the noise for about 10 seconds every few minutes. Waiting for it, I found out that the intermittent noise was not coming from main fan but from the small fan at the back. The constant sound when the air cleaner was on was coming from the main fan. There is a Xiaomi service center in Fortune Town, Mercure hotel side on 2nd floor, but on talking to them, and realising it would be service charge plus charge for parts, the repair would have come to about same price as buying a new one. Apologies for not being more precise. I was responding to this part: "When in night mode it sometimes seems to run for 10 seconds, then stops for a few minutes and then 10 seconds again....all night! " That's the behaviour of the small fan which is testing air quality.
  17. Had same problem with 3H. It was from small fan at the back for air quality sensor. Didn't fix it, just bought a new one.
  18. So basically the news is that electricity is increasing by 30-40% or so in January, to allow EGAT to recover losses in 1-2 years, and if it stays at 4.72 baht, then EGAT will need to be refinanced by government from taxes as they'll incur another 50 billion baht losses (from 120 to 170 billion baht) in the next year.
  19. Very true. Trusted countries like Venezuela, Iran and North Korea love BTC. And it's not at all like Monopoly money. With Monopoly money you can actually buy something other than weapons and cocaine.
  20. That warning at the top is more damaging than any review, and far exceeds any earnings the hotel could have received if they took it on the chin and moved on. All that 1934 reviews on the side, giving it 4.5 star are now worth about 0 stars. I can't see any sensible traveler, seeing that message on the top, wishing to book this hotel... like... ever. Which is why reputable international chains would not get to this level. But Thai businesses might. There were Thai couple sued by a resort up north. That jailed self-proclaimed princess or whatever she was, is now suing people who posted any bad words against her for defamation. So it's not only businesses, it's people also. The intent of the law should be to prevent unfair, hostile damage to reputation, like what it is in other countries. In Thailand, however, it is there purely to invoke self-censorship from fear of retaliation, so exploitation can continue unpunished. Sad, really. If there's one law that should be amended, this is the one.
  21. That last 2 sentences are very important. I believe the first one is wrong, though. Even if you're right, by Thai defamation laws it doesn't matter, to what I understood. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.
