Which is the best airline to fly to Thailand?
superal replied to RolandRat's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
My preference is Thai Air . Non stop is much better that going through that Arab security and another check in / boarding . Also I always take the flight that arrives in Suvarabhumi at about 06 15 am as it enables me to get to Don Muang airport and fly to north east Thailand the same day. The other Thai Air flight hits Bangkok at about 3 15 pm along with Eva Air which means a night in a hotel , plus taxis etc . The food on Thai Air and Eva Air have always been decent in the economy but Eva Air are more generous with serving alcohol . I have pulled my wings in a bit over the last year as the cost of flying from the UK to Thailand seems to have doubled , at least . Also I never book a flight with an agent , always direct with the airline and use a credit card for protection. Many agents will offer a good deal but beware because once they have your money some of them are difficult to contact ,may cancel or change your booking at an increased fare cost . BTW , IMO Thai Air have always been reliable when booking and the flight experience is better than many other air lines -
I agree that illegal immigrants in the should be returned to where they came from and that belief is gathering support throughout Europe . Illegal immigrants are criminals . Immigrants must be vetted for criminal background checks , plus their skill level and ability to contribute to the economy . That vetting takes time and hence the long stay in hotels etc . Leaving the ECHR would enable the UK government to take back control of illegal immigration . Interesting days ahead under the new Labour government as they never really came up with a definitive plan on illegal immigration . Starmer was a huge voice in criticizing Sunak over the immigration numbers .

Brexit: A Triumph for Britain, Despite Labour’s Naysayers
superal replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Out of the controlling EU chains , is why the nation voted for Brexit . Unfortunately the BJ exit negotiations were not ideal . The EU hated the UK for leaving and even now they still bear resentments . Next thing to do is leave the ECHR because that still has a big say on how the UK controls immigration . Many of my European friends here in Thailand admire Brexit and wish their countries would do the same . However the leaders of the EU see their dreams as the "United Europe " . They are control freaks , none more so than Macron who is so out of touch with his people and is now suffering the consequences . Farage and the "Reform Party " have got my backing . I was once a backer of the Tory Party but because of the uncontrolled immigration , the cost of living , lousy house building and planning laws , the collapse of the NHS etc , enough is enough . -
New E-Gates for Thai Passports Debut at Suvarnabhumi Airport
superal replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This auto system does not work for me at arrivals in Heathrow . Then , after waiting to use the auto system which failed for me I was told to join the back of the long zig zag queues for the I/O p/p control . These auto systems are a pain ( even when checking in at Heathrow ) and a staff member often has to help . In a similar way , UK supermarkets and DIY stores are using a self service check out that often has long queues , to cut back on staffing levels . I have seen customers leave their shopping trolleys , rather than use these auto systems . There is often confusion from infrequent users and the elderly . If these systems break down there is mayhem with literally thousands of travelers stranded and the lack of I/Os means that there are delays at PP control of 5, 6, 7 hours as happened at Heathrow last year . Expensive and not necessary , just employ more staff . -
The Reform party have got all other parties running scared . WHY ? because Farage is not only speaking the truth he is presenting the views of many UK citizens . Because he puts " true Brits first " he is accused of being a racist .He has got it right with charity starts at home . Leaving the ECHRs has to be done in order to control immigration . I watched the latest BBC Question Time which was televised from Birmingham . Why Birmingham ? that is a typical city that has many immigrants and thus , a toxic audience for Farage to face . Talk about being thrown into the lions den . However Farage is a strong and brave character and gave a good performance . I choose my words carefully but was that audience a biased selection ? Even the deputy leader of the Green party who opened the debate was having a pop at Farage & the Reform party . The British public will see through all of this stitch up , especially the Channel 4 secret filming .

The DEMS are in a dilemma . If Biden stays it is odds on that Trump wins . If Biden steps down it could turn ugly for the DEMS as a free for all scramble from candidates erupts which will have a negative impact on their chances to win the election as they will be seen as a disorganized party . Now if the deputy ( Kamala Harris ) was capable of taking the reigns , that could have been an acceptable ploy but under the US Constitution that can only happen during a term and not to become a prime candidate . However the 25th Amendment of the Constitution allows the vice president and cabinet to declare the president not able to perform his duties of office and the power is transferred to the vice president . However KH is not a popular figure apparently , so that will not happen .

I have sympathy for the American public because last night's performance by Biden was embarrassing . Like it or not , Biden is not only the president of the USA but also the leader of the free world and at the helm they have a man who is clearly past his sale by date . I am not discriminating against Biden because of his age but because of his obvious mental frailties . How could Biden possibly see out another 5 year term in office . It is a position that affects global peace and demands important decisions and reactions . If Biden or his wife have any sense , Biden should step aside now for the sake of the American people and the free world .

Did you watch the electioneering debate on Wednesday night ? ( Early morning in Thailand ) . To me Sunak was the clear winner with Starmer unable to answer questions on the Labour Mandate funding and taxes . Sunak is a highly intelligent man who is trying to save a drowning Tory government . If only he would admit that the Tory governments of recent years had caused many problems in the UK ,and that he would rectify it , which would be an admission of poor Tory management , to which the public would admire . Alas I fear that the damage is done and Labour will be the new UK government . Reform to be the opposition or maybe form a coalition ?

Fireflies are fascinating to watch , an amazing sight that scientists are studying and not sure of the way they work . BTW I am also in Issan and have not seen any fireflies this year , despite the rains but have seen many termite butterflies after the rain has stopped . Have to turn off the house lights because somehow they will find a way in .

Venomous Jellyfish Warning Issued for Phuket’s Racha Yai Island

Many Jelly fish , other forms of aquatic life that can be a danger , rip tides , whirl pools , pollution are the main reasons I choose not to swim in Thailand . -
Real French people do not put up with xxit from their government . They are protective of their customs and life styles that are being diluted by immigration , much the same as many other European countries . Macron is not a popular man and is using scare tactics to steer voters from the far right . He will lose .

Older Diesel Cars to Undergo Stricter Inspections to Curb Pollution
superal replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
20 years for checks ? It should be 5 years and a proof of annual service shown in the service book or garage receipt . Failures should be seized and repaired with the invoice and fine for the owner . Or just scrap the vehicle if there are too many faults . Some form of control may happen in Bangkok but up here in rural Issan , no chance . -
Reform UK Overtakes Tories in Polls for the First Time
superal replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Sometimes the truth hurts . Farage is demonstrating the facts that show the massive uncontrolled immigration be it legal or illegal . Why do so many make the trek to the UK when there are easier options . Not exactly rocket science . Pre Brexit there was freedom of movement within the E.C. which resulted in the UK being swamped with foreign labour who undercut UK workers rates . This resulted in many UK workers losing their jobs and homes . Some law abiding UK businesses went under . The black economy was popular with foreign workers . Indeed it was the mass invasion of foreign workers along with unpopular E.C. laws that inspired Brexit . However the flood gates have opened again and it appears that the Tories tolerate this to a certain extent . Maybe because businesses are using this cheaper labour . There is also no doubt that high numbers of immigrants has contributed to the downfall of the NHS and lack of housing . The E.C. have made trading difficult with increased bureaucracy . This needs to be sorted out . Also the French border police payments are a joke . Talk about squandering money . UK immigration needs to be halted now and illegals deported . The UK is being raped while those in authority stand by and watch . -

Thailand Prepares for Casino Boom Amid Economic Hopes
superal replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Casinos can be enjoyable to use if you have self control . I take only the amount of money that I can afford to lose . I treat it as entertainment . One thing we do not know is if Thais will be allowed to use them . My main concern is the regulating of the casino business in Thailand . E.G. in the UK casinos are under government regulation where the payout ( at least on slots ) is between 80-95% of takings .Will there be regulation in Thailand ? I do not think so . The tables cannot be controlled in that way . As you say , casinos can be bad for weak willed people , never the less , in Thailand gambling exists and the government are missing out on billions of Baht that could be claimed in taxes . Licensing casinos , horse racing , lotteries , cock fights yet banning online sports betting does not make sense . BTW the Thai lottery payouts seem on the low side , just 60% of takings . -

Pattaya to become Southeast Asia’s premier destination
superal replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Not forgetting the dangerous pavements/footpaths , especially if you had a couple of beers . Often you have to walk in single file because of the street vendors using the pavements . Beach road really lends itself to a promenade . The poor state of Pattayas pavements show how important tourists are . Do people actually go swimming in that sewage polluted sea ? I wonder if the sea in Pattaya is ever tested for pollution levels and swimmers safety ? -

Facts are facts and being deniable is the ostrich behavior . I will repeat an earlier statement . Most Western countries electorates have moved to the right of politics in order to control immigration . Immigration is number 1 on the agenda for voters , not only in Europe but also in the U.S.A. , Australia , and Canada etc . -

Reform UK Overtakes Tories in Polls for the First Time

How bad is illegal immigration in the UK? Even the most basic calculations put the economic burden on the British taxpayer of an illegal migration population of 1.2 million at £14.4 billion. That is just shy of 10% of NHS England's budget for this year.7 May 2024 In 2022 over 45,000 illegal immigrants crossed the channel in small boats, followed by some 30,000 in 2023. Most were allowed in with no criminal checks. Over 17,000 have gone missing. As for skills and qualifications . NHS dentists: Exam could be scrapped for overseas ... BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk › news › health-68325203 17 Feb 2024 — The government is considering plans to allow dentists from abroad to work without taking an exam to check their education and skills. This lack vetting also applies to other industries when false diplomas / qualifications are shown . What percentage of UK crime is committed by immigrants? The statistics show that the asylum-group is highly over presented for some types of crime. They account for 14.3 percent of all suspects in crimes against life (which include murder, manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter), 12.2 percent of sexual offences, 11.4 percent of thefts and 9.7 percent of body injuries. All the above stats are easy to find using Google . -

Hindsight is a wonderful thing . COVID 19 government actions were by way of taking advice from Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies ( SAGE ) . At the time the pandemic was rife in Europe with many deaths in Italy . There is no doubt that the " lockdowns " ) prevented many more COVID deaths . What came before Covid were the austerity years . All this compounded the downturn of UK economy . Then came the high levels of immigration that have become a huge burden to the NHS , housing and education etc . COVID and austerity are history and cannot be undone but uncontrolled immigration has to be halted . As you say , immigration was wanted by employers so as to reduce labour costs and improve profits . Ponzi scheme ? I agree and on the Covid event , many made money from the lack of P.P.E. e.g. M. Hancock , shameful . What we are faced with is a new Labour government that have similar ways to that of the Tory party . The rise and popularity of the Reform party cannot be dismissed and many electorate see them as the only answer to broken Britain . Those who advocate uncontrolled mass immigration , before the welfare of those born in Britain , are betraying their country and many might say are guilty of treason . -
I for one welcome the casinos to Thailand . One concern is the regulating of payouts . In the UK that payout is between 80-99% on takings ( RTP ) from a slot machine , under government law . Would that type of control be applied in Thailand ? I have my doubts . Also does the amendment of gambling laws in Thailand open the door to betting shops or online betting ? In Thailand , horse race betting allowed , lottery allowed , cock fight betting allowed and soon casinos . To criminalize online betting e.g. football betting seems unjust and illogical
