  1. How many of the outraged posters on here will take any action? Will they all pack their bags and leave the country they now seem to despise? My guess is they will all stay hoping that Thailand's stance damages the economy and weakens the baht. Money over moral outrage.
  2. Where in the article do the Thai authorities comment on what is going on? The article is only about what effects the ongoing situation could have on Thailand. Are the Thais not allowed to talk about that?
  3. Just been to the post office to mail a 20 gram letter to Malta. The only service available is courier post for 1,650 baht! I have opted to post it to someone in Spain for 240 baht registered air mail and have them send it on from there.
  4. You have to give a reason for requesting a TIN. I am the same as you, retired with no income in Thailand. I showed them the entry for withholding tax in my Thai bank book, gave the reason that if I was paying tax I should have a TIN and they agreed.
  5. I went last December and was not issued a card. I was issued a sheet of A4 paper with the revenue department crest, date of application, my full name, various other sets of numbers and in a fairly central position my handwritten tax number. My understanding was that some sort of official card should be issued and you could choose to have it posted or you could pick it up. I have not recieved anything. Should I go to the tax office and ask about a card?
  6. When people stop by on the odd occasion I have no problem offering food and drink if we are eating and drinking at the time. I do have a problem when the wife constantly prepares enough food to feed an army just in case someone pops round and with the people who regularly appear just after food and drink is placed on the table.
  7. Quick look on the internet suggests it's quite common elsewhere. Brake failures and other brake problems on tractor-trailers and other large trucks contribute to many catastrophic collisions on the road. A Department of Transportation study shows that 29 percent of all large truck crashes in the U.S. involve brake failures, brakes out of adjustment or other brake-related issues. In fact, brake failures only cause about 5% of the car crashes in the US every year. Of course, there are 5.6 million car crashes in America every year, so brake failure accounts for about about 300,000 crashes per year.Jul 20, 2564 BE https://ohiotiger.com
  8. My son got a booster of Pfizer there last Sunday, he initially had 2× Sinopharm.
  9. My son got a free Pfizer booster last Sunday at Bang Sue station after previously receiving 2 × sinopharm. A foreigner can probably get a booster there if they use the 13 digit Thai code they were given with their original shots.
  10. Hardly international. She is apparently a star in India so no surprise that the account she posted on social media made it into an Indian news article. The story involves a person with some fame and Thailand so no surprise it has been reported here.
  11. I agree. I was just pointing out that the story exists because she took to social media and not because any journalist may have an agenda.
  12. The story seems to exist because she "took to her social media" to report it.
  13. The three rai of land it is sitting on in Bangkok is probably worth a fair bit on it's own so nowhere near 13 years to get your money back.
  14. Watched this one take off, an hour past the scheduled landing was informed it would not be coming back. https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/55369
  15. I parked in BigC On Nut and took the Skytrain. Free parking and convenient as I get into Bangkok via Rama IV.
  16. Just driven 2 hours to Hua Hin to do a bit of fishing off the pier and have a meal. Fishing pier is closed! At Cha Am now waiting for some barbecue pork to finish cooking and then drive 2 hours back home. Gread day out so far.
  17. I posted a letter to my UK bank on the 14th of Ocrober, registered mail. It took 2 days to leave Thailand, 5 more days to arrive in UK, spent 4 days in customs and then arrived at the destination town. It has been at the destination town for 3 days and has not been delivered yet. A delivery attempt was made yesterday (to a bank) at 7am, surprise surprise no one was in. We will see what today brings.
  18. Who would know they had a positive ATK test unless they reported it?
  19. It's my understanding that the positive ATK test people then get a PCR test to confirm the result and then are added to the daily figure. If you add PCR and ATK figures people will be getting counted twice.
  20. My motorbike will take 91 (E10), 95 (E10)(E20). Went to a station yesterday and they had no 91 pumps. The 91 pumps seem to have been replaced by E20 pumps. The E20 is on a green rectangle. Is the E20 95 or 91?
  21. The Pa Sak Cholasit Dam in Lopburi/Saraburi has been above 100% capacity for several days now which is forcing them to release at least as much water as is flowing in. If there was massive rainfall in that area last night they may have no choice but to increase the outflow further.
