  1. Not sure, I'm a native English speaker, learned French, learned German, learned Spanish. Learned a bit of Thai (+basic reading and writing) but never found it worthwhile. Especially as I only get 1 year to stay at a time. I've forgotten most of my German and Thai now as I never used them. (my family speak Lanna and English) If I had to learn another language now, it wouldn't be Thai as I don't live in Bangkok. Always surprised at the western guys that insist you learn Thai while not seeming to understand that Central Thai isn't generally spoken by most Thai people in normal conversations.
  2. Every bank teller in every branch of every bank will tell a different story. Unless we all spoke to the same teller you visited, we wouldn't have heard the same. Net time find another bank cash deposit ATM to take your money. Doesn't have to be your branch or even your bank.
  3. Current numbers suggest it takes 100x to reliably impregnate. A century ago it was only 20x.
  4. I have no money apart from my pensions. I'm worth more alive.
  5. I only said that to avoid the personal attacks that you attract!
  6. Yep, I had a problem paying for a lazada delivery, van driver wasn't surprised, said many deliveries were having the same problem. Bangkok Bank was the culprit (as usual), TTB (my other account) had no problems.
  7. I paid for mine to go to high school then university. She now runs the PTA and the housing association and handles all their finances. Her pals are the police chief, headmaster, head of amphur and tessaban. I don't get involved, not my country, not my business. "... its instantly recognisable who the respectable Wives are and who the 'ex-BG's' are...." @richard_smith237 Maybe it is and they don't care, or maybe it isn't.
  8. My last one claimed 50% of her customers just wanted to cuddle her and cry about how badly their western wives had treated them. I saw no reason to doubt her, especially as she was charging them 40,000bht (plus expenses) for the weekend. This was back in 2010.
  9. I think it's down to us all being 60+, and wanting a fit looking 30 year old woman in our beds.
  10. "......... and also shares Jo's passion for health and fitness." I wouldn't call someone that died at age 30 healthy or fit. Epic fail!
  11. Disagree, I've rented/bought many Asian ladies, and they were all better than the Brit lady that allegedly married me for love. The trick is, not to give them enough money up front, that they no longer need you.
  12. 'in sickness and health' went out the window in the UK in 1997.
  13. That's very true, but i'm used to living in the UK, so 8 months of unbearably cold, dark and wet Vs 2 months of smog is an easy decision to make.
  14. But it does say the scooter was dragged 100m, indicating the guy was so out of his head he didn't notice the collision.
  15. I'd like to suggest they call it ....... Operation Dark Storm! https://matrix.fandom.com/wiki/Operation_Dark_Storm "During the early years of humanity's war against the Machines, the leaders of the United Nations found themselves desperately trying to halt the advancement of 01's armies, who were relentlessly advancing and overrunning various nations in Africa and Eurasia. When the war began sometime after 2139 (approximated based on the end of the Second Renaissance), the Machines were steadily winning against humans. Looking for any way to slow their advance, scientists devised the plan to block the sun's rays from the surface of Earth using nanites sprayed into the upper atmosphere in the hopes of cutting the Machines off from their primary power source. This "final solution" was code-named Operation Dark Storm."
  16. I've got the same in Chiang Mai, but the mortgage repayments are only 10kbht/month.
  17. I have HBOGo, costs about 40bht/month.
  18. MaeJo, in the road between the police station and the post office.
  19. My electricity bill was 160bht last month. Wasting electricity and renting an expensive home is a lifestyle choice, not a need.
  20. The police won't accept charges in a domestic situation, probable not even if she stabs you. Their one and only answer to domestic violence is to suggest you move, sometimes they will protect and escort the 'victim' to the bus station and even pay for their ticket.
  21. If you are married there are no legal ramifications to you leaving with your son. But conversely she can also leave with her son, or snatch him from you later. In Thailand both parents (if married) have the right to snatch, run and hide. Winner take all, strange but true.
