    Your story is in no way the same. Taking cultivated crops is theft. Gathering plants randomly growing on private land is totally legal in Thailand.

    What would be the use of that ....... it doesn't keep. I smoke every night and can barely manage 6oz/year (about 200gm/year).

    Not that significant, a one off cost of 8,000bht allows me to grow around 50oz/year indoors. The LED lights (largest expense of 4,500bht) have already lasted 2 years with no signs of failing.

    I pay a woman 10k/month to pretend to be my wife. Not expensive at all! As for Thai wages, My Thai daughter (23 + degree) gets paid 20k/month plus a free condo in Nakon Sawan. My Thai niece (25 no degree) gets paid 25k/month as a Lotus manager. My other Thai niece (30 no high school) gets paid 10k/month as a Lotus shop assistant.

    UK government already has plans to move the state pension to 70 years old (from the current 67). Thailand is just leading the world for a change.

    Saigon is a much better destination for your ME 'o' IMHO. Direct flight and no queues like Savannakhet.

    Cambodia, no hoops at all, $300/year using an agent (55+). Philippines, no hoops at all, $50 every 2 months using an agent (no age restrictions).

    Oddly enough when I came here 12 years back I was spending 60k/month (just me). Now I'm spending nearer 40k/month (4 of us). I don't think inflation in Thailand is that significant.
