I changed at 43.06 on Friday, down to 42.84 now.

I have bacon and egg for breakfast every day. 3 wine coolers in the day. Lots of cups of Typhoo tea. I'm OK doing the same thing every day.

2 years back I tried a couple of plants outside and they were covered in bugs. This year I've got loads outside, and nothing at all wants to eat them apart from slugs/snails. So I've cut a ring of plastic from a coke bottle to shield the base of the plants, and sprinkled Vermiculite around so they don't like sliding around. Seems to work. No idea if I'll get anything worth smoking, this is my first outdoor grow in soil. My indoors grow tent is just to get seeds/clones ready for planting outside. I get my western seeds from Attitude Seedbank in the UK, 10 pounds delivery to Thailand in a plain Jiffy bag, takes about 10 days to get them. This is a small (2ft) Cheeselicious from them, it's been outside in a pot (out of direct sun) for a week. And this was a 30bht plant from my local market, out in full sun, about 8ft tall and just flowering.

Who has retired to other Asian countries?
BritManToo replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I have A Brit pal in Cambodia. He was in PP until the COVID shut-downs drove him out. He's been living in Kampot since then, seems happy enough. I've spent plenty of time in Siem Reap, Phomn Penh and Barretto (PI). Like them all and would be happy to live in either place. -
Yes it does, all the western countries are in the same sinking currency ship. Australia/NZ is even worse than the Uk, the EU about the same. Haven't looked at Canada.

Taking the plunge
BritManToo replied to Padthaigoong's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I would disagree, as the bribes are shared at all levels. And the highest level immigration officers paid significant bribes to get their posts. -

Only if he didn't share the bribe with them. -
What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2022)
BritManToo replied to CharlieH's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
When I describe a movie as woke, I mean ........... Anti-white male racism disguised under the euphemism social justice. Rejection of traditional morality, promoting sexually deviant lifestyles. -
Everyone is 'alright Jack' If the private pension funds failed, the government would end up paying them (either as welfare or under the guarantee). So they won't fail as there is no benefit to the government in letting them fail.
-
I don't think that matters, at the moment anyone seen as in charge will be blamed. They were just the latest two silly enough to stick their heads on the chopping block. There will be plenty more to follow.

You don't think non-white foreigners in Thailand have/need VISAs? -
COVID is a mess in which all world governments (left or right, military or democratic) participated. Close your economy for 2 years and now reap the rewards.

I don't believe there is any real risk to pensions. The government guarantees almost all private UK pensions (mine is guaranteed 80%). And the private pensions are taxed at 20%, so I don't see that I have much to lose. My private pension failing would make almost no difference to my income (after tax). Most people with only state pensions get benefits to top their income up. As for the mortgage rate, Anyone who purchases a home without considering historical interest rates is a fool.

Pound was at it's highest for 3 months on Friday. So if what you said were true, Liz has been an amazing success. But I do agree, Liz and the Conservatives should just walk away and let Labour have a go. See if they can do any better. But I disagree on the cause ......... the cause was COVID shutting the country for 2 years. And it's a cause that will sweep through all the western countries, as they all had the same problem. Australia is also facing a collapsing AUD. Not much being said about Europe, but the Euro is sinking fast as well.
-
I think Liz should come out and say at the moment the UK is a complete mess and she can think of nothing to save it, then follow up by resigning the entire Conservative government and letting Labour have a go. It would be fun to see Labour also fail in such an epic way! (now back to "Australia dollar is collapsing")

I once lived in a dead Moobaan, 100 plots, 3 houses. The roads would flood as there was no maintenance. The water would go off, once for more than a week as there was no money to repair the village tank pump. Does this condo have lifts? Buyer beware!

I could live in my house near CM for 25k/month (without the women and children). Beyond 9kbht for the mortgage there's not much to spend money on.
