  1. Graphics cards are a problem in Thailand at the moment, very expensive, lots of fakes. It might be a good idea to buy the graphics card, processor and memory in the USA and bring them with you.
  2. Heinz yellow mustard from Makro, don't like French's too sweet, don't buy Coleman's too expensive. I've always bought HP sauce, although Daddy's and OK (never seen either in Thailand) are acceptable if on sale for less than HP.
  3. Thai people tend to live outside, British people mainly live inside, due to the weather. Old Thai people are often very thin, old British people are usually overweight. Thai people die fairly quickly when they're old, British people linger on forever under the NHS. I suspect this is the main difference for the COVID death discrepancies between the two countries. But I'm no expert and I'm not trying to spread misinformation.
  4. I goto the government hospital every 2 months. 50bht to see the doctor (inc hospital services), 180bht for 2 months of pills. Sometimes they do a PSA test for an extra 250bht. I don't have any insurance, I'm OK with death when my time comes.
  5. I've personally seen ZERO crime since COVID, and only 1 incidence of crime in the 10 years prior to COVID. (m/c helmet stolen from my parked scooter)
  6. If the country requires any of these for entry there will be few tourists.
  7. Would like to point out Thai can get very angry and shoot or hack at you with a machete over similar foolish disputes, but will agree there's less shouting involved. Would also point out dementia among the elderly often displays itself as 'screaming wildly', I always remove myself from such scenes before one of the Thais pulls their gun and starts shooting randomly. Back in his home country he wouldn't get this opportunity as nearly all the banks closed (at least in the UK they have).
  8. Well, I'm fairly happy here and I'll answer some of your points that I feel are relevant to me. How happy can a 65 year old man be anywhere in the world? Living here with a slim 40yo wife definitely trumps living in the UK with a fat 65yo wife. 3. I still find it really cheap, took my family out to a local lake yesterday and we sat in a hut over the lake with a table filled with food and drink. The setting was beautiful, the food was great, the beer came in buckets (Shhhhhh), and it only cost 1,000bht for the four of us. Hardly expensive by anyone's standards. Free entry for me as over 60. 4. Can't say as everywhere is still closed due to COVID. 5. Small plot is great, it means I don't have to do gardening. 6. I can't own land so I don't care what it costs (my woman already has plenty). 7. Fun m/cs are really cheap, I bought a sh Honda Cb300R last year for 50Kbht. 11. My neighbours are all very nice, all middle class professionals, friendly, helpful and polite, choose a better neighbourhood. 12. I have no problems eating pork and chicken. 14. Immigration has never been easier now COVID has removed all the foreigners. 15. I came here to get away from western people, good riddance, don't come back. So there you go, IMHO Thailand has got better over the 12 years I've been living here.
  9. There you go ........... lunch on the patio (I have to share with my 10 year old). Additional data provided for the 'marketing agencies' Pepsi from BigC @32bht/2l Steak from the local pork shop 25bht/steak Chips from Makro 99bht/2Kg HP sauce from from Food Variety 109bht. The Air fryer it was cooked in from Lazada.
  10. The charge was 4 pounds, I transfer 1,000 pounds, they deposit 45,500bht ( = XE rate - 4 pounds).
  11. If I transfer my pension (1,000 pounds) from Natwest UK using WISE before 9am, it's usually in my BKB account by 2pm (45,500bht last month). If there was an advantage using another system, I'd probably try it ........ but there isn't at the moment.
  12. No tips are expected, except in massage where the tip is payment for 'extra services' provided.
  13. As others have said, notification was posted in advance on the phone app. Many Thais only use the phone apps for their banking, card less cash withdrawals from ATMs, payment by QR code, transfers, you really need to move with the times. I run two bank accounts, BKB and TMB, transfers between them on the phone app. Best not to have all your money locked in one bank. I suspect SCB will be just the same as BKB.
  14. Items shipped from China, store only announces 'shipped' when the item is in Thailand. Lots of stockless shops selling stuff straight from the manufacturer.
  15. Never been bothered what secret government organisations know about me. I'm probably the dullest and least interesting person in the world. Good luck using my latest FB posting of my dinner (pork steak, chips and HP sauce)!
  16. No, I think men who sleep with ladyboys aren't straight.
  17. She finished University earlier this year, two month wait for her to get the paperwork. A week later she started work in a Chiang Mai company on a starting wage of 18k/month. Now living in an apartment with another girl, no more expense to me. I'd call that a result!
  18. Season 3 of Britannia appeared today. Nothing like a bit of a Roman orgy and killing the Brits.
  19. Same side effects as alcohol as far as I can see.
  20. I'm sure there should be some BADZ songs on this list, he's responsible for at least a 66% contribution.
  21. I go to Cambodia for 2 reasons, 1) two of my pals live there. 2) 90 day VISA jump on my Non O. What was I supposed to be saving 10bht on? Or did you just make that up?
  22. http://www.pmlive.com/pharma_news/xarelto_no_better_than_aspirin_in_secondary_stroke_study_1207165 Is there some reason you need a drug costing $500/month, when aspirin at $2 for 60 is supposedly just as good?
  23. I didn't think hemp had any THC/CBD. Are we talking cannabis? Cannabis doesn't grow all that well outside in Thailand. Too many pests, so it had to be frequently sprayed with pesticide. And the seasons are all wrong, for flowering you need dry weather with reducing daylight hours.
