Democracy is Failing the Young – No Wonder They Want Change
BritManToo replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It's the western governments Ponzi property scheme that's the main problem. Restrict new building, force up housing prices, then create a slave labour society working 24/7 in order to have a home. Meanwhile China is producing 2 room fully fitted housing pods for $5000. Easily shipped by container, ready to be hooked up to utils. https://fandiluo.en.made-in-china.com/product/WQgrOVUbXSRo/China-Fully-Furnished-Luxury-Capsule-House-Hotel-with-Bathroom-Modern-Prefabricated-Mobile-Portable-Waterproof-Villa.html -
Almost every item I now own was made in China. 75" TCL tv, best I've ever owned (compared to Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic. LG, Samsung) eMTB Trinx M1000 pro, also the best bicycle I've ever owned (compared to Merida, Trek, Raliegh, Giant) Solar inverter and panels, problem free so far. Tablet, phone, computer, fans, watch, cycling computer, Kindle, all Chinese. I doubt you could buy much in Thailand that wasn't made in China.

MG4 costs 50% more, and my furthest journey is Makro, approx 12Km away from home. Also they have some 18 month old demo NETA V for 300kbht (20,000Km) which is a total bargain. Not driven either yet, I have only sat in the Neta V and it was fine, plenty of room for me to drive. Didn't seem to be cheap or a tin can, but I guess it might shake and rattle when I drive one.

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2025)
BritManToo replied to Rimmer's topic in Entertainment
Just watched "Homestead", America falls after a nuke terrorist attack ........... The most awful woke Mormon prepper nonsense you could possibly imagine. At least nobody dropped their guns, or fell over running away. I just wasted nearly 2hrs of my life. -
I'm currently trying to buy one, Neta V (430kbht) or MG4 (600kbht) are the likely choices. Mainly because my house is solar powered and it would be nice not to pay for fuel anymore. Called into the Neta showroom with a pal for a test drive, but forgot my DL (left it at home in my pickup) so no go, will call in again next week. Not much English spoken and they only had the more expensive Smart (460kbht) in stock.

Western Food - when only this will do !
BritManToo replied to CharlieH's topic in Western Food in Thailand
LA Casita is the only Mexican place I go. I'd rate the food as average and reasonably priced. as opposed to everywhere else where the food is awful and expensive. Tacos are in the 70-80bht range, two of those (usually spicy pork and chicken for me) along with the free chips and dips make a filling meal total of under 200bht. -
Elon Musk: The Rise of Electric Cars is Unstoppable, Despite Trump

Don't think anyone in the motor industry is doing that well since the COVID restrictions destroyed the world economy. -
Just tried in my kids 2024 Toyota Yaris ativ, and the moment I plug my phone into the data usb car socket, car tablet switches to Google maps and android auto display. No Plex or netflix though.
-
That's only to play music from phone to car. Google maps and Netflix require a cable. If you want wireless connection for your phone/car android auto/carplay you'll probably need to buy a carlink 5.0. https://youtu.be/cPBwrDM1s_Y?si=fmbw5MdSzstL328l

Neta and GMC and Toyota all require a usb to phone cable for android auto to work. Don't know about apple, but a cable would be the first thing I tried. My kids Toyota (3 months old) says on screen "connect cable for android auto" Neta manual says nothing, only YouTube has the answer.

Did you plug your phone into the car usb port with a data cable? Cos that's how it normally works.

Meta Agrees to $25 Million Settlement with Trump Over Facebook Ban

From the number of votes cast in the previous and next elections, I find it completely credible. 14M votes mysteriously appeared for just that one 2020 election! -
They didn't speak to me at all, just waved me through.

I had a great solo trip to China a few years back. 2,500bht for a return flight Chiang Mai to Changsha, then a train journey to Zangjiajie. Immigration waved me through, zero interest, police ignored me, and were difficult to spot. Had to show my passport to get on the train. Walking in the mountains for 10 days was great, long deserted paved trails, only saw 3 white people after boarding the all Chinese people flight at CM. Food was difficult, couldn't tell a family home from a restaurant out in the rural areas, everyone very polite and friendly, but no English anywhere, signs or language so quite hard to get around. Train full of peasant farmer types, all with big bags of food, which they insisted I shared on the train journey. Download an offline map like maps.me so you can use your phone to get around, expect nothing online to work. Money, Think I just used my Thai debit card in ATMs. Great, but strange place for a holiday.

I've done the Hanoi day cultural walking tour, and the evening food walking tour. Both very good value and worthwhile
