  1. But maybe they will be like the USA and employ 20000 new tax masters. Can you imagine the sht fight.
  2. Except you have to have a FB account before you can use it.
  3. So you do not have a scanner? Or take a photo with your phone and download to the computer. All of this modern stuff with a phone is a big pain. I had to sign up to Facebook today because a friend only uses Messenger. Funny how FB already had my details.
  4. We have not had a problem with cleaning as long as slope of the roof is sufficient for "self cleansing", the same as for stormwater pipes.
  5. Is this a Taksin payback?
  6. We used the translucent sheeting for a carport (6 x 5m) as metal sheeting would have made the adjoining bedroom too dark. It also provided a workspace that does not need lighting. Yes it does get hot on full sunny days but that is not every day. In wet season we do not notice it being too hot. Your idea to have a mixture of both is good. Then you can have a frame under the clear sheets to slide in timber sheeting for the days that are too hot.
  7. Depends on the weather.
  8. Time for you to go to Blighty then. Otherwise we have different types of squirrels, shrews, ferrets all within sight from our house. The variety of birds is amazing as the seasons change.
  9. You must live in a city or a hole. Get out and open your eyes.
  10. try this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mammals_of_Thailand
  11. Do a search on Wikipedia and other sites, there are all types of animals and birds out in the regional areas. We see many of them around the house.
  12. Yes, I asked that myself after posting. With operating theatre and surgeon it is okay. Bed and basic nursing should be cheap but there is always a "medical supplies" (whatever they are) item that is expensive.
  13. 30000 baht seems bit high for up here, but is there any opposition apart from the public one?
  14. Need advice on how to watch the RWC. True Visions have most of the rugby with Premier Sports (ch 669) but have not seen any ads that they will show it. Expect that I will need a subscription but one that is not geo-blocked and has replays, not getting up in the early hours to watch it live.
  15. Seems to be strange advice from PEA. Our neighbours electricity runs through our land (no easement) on concrete poles that we have been told belong to us, not PEA.
  16. We are having a below normal wet season (last year was very wet) with the wife watering her durian trees from the well. Otherwise still enough rain to keep the grass alive. Drove through Uttaradit last week and was depressing to see how dry it was, rice fields with absolutely no water.
  17. It should be no problem except for some car hire companies that want a digital license. I used my Thai licence in Mach in preference to my Australian one to get around the above issue.
  18. Those fires are started by stupid people. Li battery fires can be caused by themselves.
  19. OP, were you able to do a walk-in in Chiang Mai. I am having problems with an Australian visa for my wife. The website will not let me sign in to make an appointment. @Purdey gave me the email above but have not received a reply. We would normally go to Bangkok and need to coordinate the appointment with flights from Phitsanulok, but morning flights are restricted now, and do not want to go without the appointment. The option is to drive to Chiang Mai if they accept walk-ins.
  20. I have been trying for two hours via their website but it will not let me sign in or create a new account. It says that the mandatory fields, two of them, must be filled in even though they are. Got any suggestions.
  21. The normal tourist visa has a stay of 3 months. The application form does allow for a request for a longer visa period but 3 months is still the maximum for each visit. Before Covid I was able to get a 3 year multiple entry visa for my wife and am in the process of applying for another one. Back in 2019 while in Australia I had a long phone conversation with Home Affairs who basically said what you are asking is not possible. As said above a woman over 29 yo will not get a work visa.
  22. That would be difficult for an Australian, mate
