The saddest part of all of this is that when we have intervened it was in nations with a tribal culture and no real solid government to take over after we vanquished the enemy. Here we have a modern population, a solid , unified government and we can do nothing at all. Sickening. I was educated by the GF who ordered something called Oliang yesterday. I tasted it and it seemed like iced coffee (she has always claimed the smell of coffee makes her sick ????). After some research, seems it is basically Robusto which is ground with corn,sesame and some spices and then brewed strong with added brown sugar.....but basically iced Americano with sugar as I could not detect any other flavor than coffee and sugar.

I've only met 3 Russians here in Thailand. A middle aged couple in Lumpini park who were trying to photograph Monitor lizards, they spoke no English and I speak no Russian, but I was able to direct them to a good lizard selfie spot. They seemed like a normal, nice and courteous couple. The third was a loud and foulmouthed young lady who was berating an immigration officer about her deficient extension application, and I attribute her behavior to being a loud and foulmouthed young lady rather than a Russian. While certain cultures have undeniable certain behavior patterns (full disclosure: as an American I avoid other USA expats like the plague) always good to try and keep an open mind....here in Thailand we are all outsiders to Thais.
