New 90 Day Report Proceedure
chilly07 replied to connda's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
And they send another reminder the day before the report date! Just renewed passport and did 90 day so waiting to see if they update my records and I get these emails next time -
It wouldn't take much effort to check where you are really living especially if a government official subs it out to an agency on no win no fee. Then you would loose your pension permanently. The agent would probably search Asean News for leads!

Thailand pensioners would cost about 6m gbp- drop in the ocean! UK government wasted vastly more than this on PPE and Test and trace as rushed to give contracts to their cronies all of whom took the money and ran. -

This is the standard response. Previously the petition did reach 100000 and the matter was debated by the subcommittee who recommended unfreezing state pensions. This was ignored by the government. However the UK government is now backpacking around the world negotiating trade agreements as they foolishly dumped the biggest trade agreement of all through Brexit. Australia New Zealand India Canada all have the opportunity of enforcing state pension inflation as well as preferential visas. Spain has just dumped uk driving licences and restricted visas. Will the host countries enforce pension inflation as well as preferential visas as part of all the new agreements? Do they even know they can? Incidentally this response alludes to pensioners being encouraged to emigrate if pensions are not frozen and singles out the above listed countries as preferential hosts if pensions are unfrozen. Spending pensions outside of the UK may be a more sensible driver but I think the DWP anticipates mass migration to prime retirement locations if pensions are unfrozen! -
Banglamung DLT made it virtually impossible to get a farang appointment due to Covid so I used Pattaya Klang driving school who use a test track next to the DLT. They queued for me, I didn't have to view a video or take a multiple choice test just the colour. reaction and depth perception tests. Well worth the 2000 bht fee (5yr to 5yr renewal) DLT kept saying OK to drive on expired license and insurers had been instructed to honour their cover. I chose not to believe insurers and persevered.

Banking / tax
chilly07 replied to brianthainess's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
UK for tax residency as the pension provider will pay net of tax as Thailand has a tax agreement with the UK. If the sum is below the personal allowance no actual tax will be deducted. -
Almost identical to the proforma letter the UK Embassy have provided for me. Can't think I would have to do both? Is this just for CW? I have provided copies of all stamped pages of old passport at every extension. As I will always have to carry both passports anyway isn't this excessive. Does this mean at the next extension I will be need to copy stamped pages from both passports? Sorry I realise TIT!

Ashamed to say that labour governments are equally guilty on frozen pensions in that they also declined to unfreeze them -

They still levy full tax on pensions originating in the UK despite freezing the state pension! As well as restricting access to the NHS! -
Normally tiling is one trade Thais are very good at. Whoever did yours is not a tiler and it should be hacked off and redone by someone who really knows what they are doing. The edge trim and grout should match the rest of the tiling including colour

long wait to get extension .
chilly07 replied to CFCjeff's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It often takes longer than the 30 days sometimes 7 days or more they allow themselves but as long as you go in on the date they stamped it's their problem not yours. -
Is the Weather noticeably hotter this year in Thailand?
chilly07 replied to webfact's topic in General Topics
It's noticably more humid this year even though the temp is at its normal level. Air is difficult to breathe and sweat is instantaneous when moving outside. -
And even when they have a Thailand address the HQ and point of delivery can still be out of the country with resultant import duty tax and additional charges by a courier you are unaware of
