Globally we are entering a very fragile state: is Asia ready?
chilly07 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
War is all about money! Regime change is about money! Invading a apparently rich neighboring country is about money. International allegiances are about money. Coups and Dictatorships are all about the accumulation of money! Politicians are driven by money. Commerce is driven by excess profits. Greed drives all the worst excesses of the human race! To accumulate wealth an individual must make tens, thousands and millions of fellow humans poor and destitute. Until we learn to love and care for all our neighbors we only encourage greed and wars! -
My son went there for 7 yrs English Program. Good discipline and administration but relies on Phillipine english speakers with only a handful of real english tutors and despite promises does not get pupils up to GCSE standard. If they paid better they could get pupils up to a standard fit to take GCSEs at the British Council.

This is where agents really become very useful especially where the applicant cannot visit immigration or wait in a queue

Best method to send debit card from US to Thailand

Not mine! Will levy all sorts of additional charges and rip your letter open. Post Office is my recommendation. Couriers will always let you down. -
New UK Passport Immigration CM
chilly07 replied to ajnamoon's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You are very lucky if HMPO posted the new passport as this service only applies in the UK and you have been without your old passport for some time (up to 11weeks) which is outside the Thai Immigration rules- hence I have just done mine via KeyVisa who took my application to Trendy Bangkok who instructed HMPO passport agents in India. KV returned my old passport to me whilst we waited for the new one to come and picked up the new PP from Trendy at which point they cancelled the old PP. I was only without a valid passport over a weekend. Better safe than sorry! And yes Trendy provided a pro forma for Immigration asking for the new passport to be certified -
Your ok on collecting monthly credit advices but you'll still need BB to certify all 12 on one letter plus a transaction on the day you apply. They do like to see your bankbook but have only once asked me the source of funds eg pension for which I used P60 tax declarations. They do like a copy of your tenancy agreement plus your landlords ID which as landlords we always overwrite " for proof of residence for Immigration" to prevent misuse. Used their appointment system last July and walked straight up to the family desk but then it was QueQ not the national system

I always cut of the call if there is no one on the other end or an automated message commences. They get approx 2 seconds to establish themselves or the phone goes down. If repeat or near nos calls follow I just block them. It's an advantage not understanding Thai. When my wife gets a call from an insurance agent for something she doesn't need however I really struggle to get her off the phone. For 2 yrs she has promised me that we can use AA insurers for house and car renewals but as soon as they get her on the phone she reneges despite me explaining all Thais think they are agents for everything and using an accredited agent with a proper office is not more expensive!

Thais think they can be an agent for anything especially when gullible expats are concerned - be it visa agent or estate agent. However there are professionals around for both functions. You need good references for any agent but those with a properly set up and registered office are clearly a good starting point. Cheapest is definitely not the best. Emergency travel documents are available from most Embassies. You have a legal requirement to report lost or stolen passports to your embassy. A police report is the starting point for a full replacement. Threats to prevent you reporting to the police and embassy should be ignored. Call their bluff!

Best way to watch Sport/premiership on a dumb tv
chilly07 replied to kwak250's topic in Audio Visual AV
I'm in Pattaya and use Thipanee fibre optic which gives me English PL football and F1. Did buy claimed exclusive package from True for 300 additional cost pcm but found I got EPL on my normal 3600 pa Thipanee Cable full package so cancelled True. I use Doofootball when using my smartphone which carries all the EPL F1 coverage but sometimes buffering is a problem -
Gheko! V good at keeping down flying pests especially swarming termites. We have many of them and protect them from moggy murderers as best we can. We do encourage our large dog to chew on cats whenever they come into our yard but he a) isn't quick enough and b) comes back bloodied whenever he corners one. Only problem is gecko poo in the house.

Paid BPH for Moderna in Dec and we got our booster jabs last week ( following 2 AZs each) having been sent the link for appointments by BPH. Did this to avoid standing in long Omicron risk queues at free vaccination centres. Strangely mainly youngish Thais at BPH with very few farangs. Vaccination service very quick and efficient. Money well spent.

First extension of stay and 90 day report
chilly07 replied to Wake Up's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
A passport without a 90 day report means you have not complied with Immigration rules and could get you thrown out of the country with a fine and an embargo on returning. You are also required to carry that passport as ID. -
Which bank credit cards recommended?
chilly07 replied to Calvin1976's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
You could have insisted on a MasterCard. Union pay is not much use and could become unusable if sanctions are applied to CCP. -
Wife and I had our Moderna boosters on Monday at Block D BPH. Mainly youngish Thais. Wife says she is not having any more vaccines. Pain and heat in vaccine site, feverish, diarrhea, unable to play cards for whole week! I had a little pain in vaccine site and took panadols for 2 days although no fever. We had same dose despite me being twice her weight which explains why her reaction was worse. Definitely stronger than both AZ doses for each of us.

Marriage extension
chilly07 replied to BangkokAlan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Shouldn't you have applied 1 mth before your last extension expired? You may have to start again from the beginning with a new Non O from outside the country?
