  1. Government should not open up anything whilst infection rates in Thailand are going through the roof! Fiddling with reporting definitions won't persuade anyone that the minute they step over the border they will not be incacerated for 2 weeks at their own expense in a 'Hospitel'
  2. Just getting the booster in Pattaya would be nice! Absolutely no news from BHP about prepaid Moderna! BCCT also via BPH constantly reports 500 doses fully booked!
  3. Sheer lunacy! With infection rates in Thailand going through the roof why not encourage tourism with a country that has one of the highest infection rates in the world! Lunacy writ large!
  4. It certainly should be as it encourages drunken antisocial superspreading behavior creating no go areas for weeks at a time. One day is quite sufficient to celebrate the more acceptable family celebration of the new year eg spring cleaning budha washing and respect for elders
  5. But have a tendency to rip open envelopes to see if they or Customs can charge additional fees! That said even the Thai PO slice open envelopes and then write the contents on the customs declaration (in my case driving licence and bank card- ideal for identity theft). The market would be open for a really secure postal service but on balance I would trust the Thai/UK Post Office more than couriers all of whoms HQ reside in another country!
  6. Not so! The agent does the donkey work for Immigration who then exercise their legitimate discretion to approve the extension.
  7. You can turn it off with the check valve/stop cock when not in use
  8. No- they will email the approval normally within a day or 2 of your application with a link to print out for your next report
  9. I used Pattaya Klang Driving school as their test track is right next to the DLT. Although I was converting a UK licence there were lots of young Thais getting their first license
  10. Although it was in 2014 I got my Non Immigrant O at the London Embassy and it was valid for entry for 1 year. When I arrived in Thailand I got my first years extension at Jomtien via an 'agent' and have been getting marriage extensions each year via the income method myself. Do hope this 'new' 10 yr visa with 80k us dollar pension pm happens without an insurance requirement as I am too old and with too many prexisting conditions. This could persuade me to change to retirement extensions.
  11. Never had a tooth crowned without root canal being done before. I regard it as essential to give the repair a long life. Without it I would expect continued problems with that tooth especially infections under the crown
  12. So difficult for expats to get boosters in Thailand that I would never refuse! It's my responsibility to the human race to get vaccinated when I can! Universal vaccination is the only way out of this mess and further evidence of Lab manipulation still occuring shows clearly how at risk we are from malign intervention!
  13. Believe Thais call this a Coconut Snake. Harmless and beautiful.
  14. MILs generally are to be avoided! Thai MIL are also fierce expecting their children to give absolute preference to their family and treating their girls as a commodity. Farang MIL display the most appalling predjudice where their children are involved. Now if you could persuade both MILs to stay in a separate country to where you live! Result! Hopefully their IT skills are rudimentary!
  15. Thus giving a completely false picture of the pandemic/endemic. Yes to reporting hospitalisations with a separate figure for those on ventilation and deaths but it is vital that non symptomatic and mild cases are also reported. Otherwise the public and health professionals will not be able to respond and the rest of the world will have even less faith in Thailands figures
  16. You can book an appointment via the main Immigration web sit selecting Jomtien/Chonburi. Bit fiddly but it allows you to select the service you need the day and the time. I always select 1pm as that is when they reopen after lunch so I am first in the queue and usually walk straight in and up to the desk. Queues outside are mainly Covid extensions
  17. As a retired UK architect and developer I can only advise going on personal recommendations and references with visits to examples of work. Absolutely no point using a designer out of the country. In Thailand you will stand a better chance of finding a Builder/Architect combination but again you will need references from satisfied clients and many site visits. You could start by You Tubing the many Farang bloggers who have built their own using Builder/Architect combinations.
  18. Used Thai Living Law who are registered notaries for UK docs-never a problem 1000bht per doc for proof of life for pensions. Darren at Keyvisa also does it for1000bht per doc
  19. I found the best way was to use a driving school especially near the DLT as they know all the comings and goings and opening times. Well worth the 3000bht fee
  20. Guess they will be relying on other countries financial regulators to police this. City of London should step up. Plenty of practice with Russian Oligarchs and Tax Havens. Seriously there are already well functioning digital banks out there.
  21. Can't see Thai employers being tempted by a quarantine fee. They will continue to use illegal immigrant labour for the foreseeable future.
  22. Some evidence of preparation for the Suvarnabhumi/U-Tapao link is evident along the Pattaya bypass but as the track will be elevated I can't see it being finished in 4 years!
  23. Makes great sense to vaccinate against everything as well as ceasing lifestyle risks well before transplant as strong immunosuppressant drugs will be needed after transplant to reduce risk of rejection
  24. If it's diagonal walk away. If it's vertical call it an expansion gap and cover it with an attractive architrave. If it extends to the roof walk away or increase the flashing. Without several photos it's impossible to say
  25. Immigration officials using their discretionary powers grant legal extensions via agents for a fee as it saves them a lot of time and hassle. Having seen agents in Immigration Offices walk in with large bundles of passports for stamping without trailing many disgruntled owners behind them convinced me that the agent/fee process is not only legal but also eminently sensible
