  1. This is a "business dispute" ie: money, drugs etc. It happened inside tree town. It has nothing to do with how narrow or crowded Soi Buakhao is, nothing to do with foreigners drinking with Thai girls, nothing to do with steroids, nothing to do with people looking for a fight, nothing to do with some imagined aggressive trait of Thai males against foreigners.
  2. OP, you wont find many (if any) agents that do marriage visa's, and if you do its just a hand holding exercise while you (and your wife) do the extension. You wont find any agent that attends immigration on your behalf, or can do creative solutions for missing documents/financials. Take any of the mentioned requirements with a grain of salt, as the requirements vary from office to office, and year to year in the same office. I do a marriage extension every year, it takes a morning, visit ampher for kor ror 2, visit bank for letter/passbook update, immigration mid morning, whatever photo copies they want this year but didn't want last year, submit the same photos each year, finished by lunchtime. usually later that same day, immigration comes to my condo, a quick photo with the condo office staff (witness). Stamp in passport 1 month later.
  3. Why advise getting an OA when the op specifically asks about an O visa, OA means ongoing health insurance, medical and police checks etc.
  4. Enter on a tourist visa, open a bank account and transfer funds, extend tourist visa stay, 2 weeks before stay ends go to immigration and convert to an O visa, the get a 1 year extension.
  5. OP, The process will be easier to understand if you realize that the bank is buying the car. Any car loan/finance etc, the bank/finance is the new owner in the blue book. The bank is buying the car, the bank will pay you. Anything else is between the bank and the guy getting the loan. The process of funding an account, that you then draw on, sounds convoluted but is most likely the way the bank does it. The bank is putting the money into a newly created account, (the account probably belongs to the bank, not the buyer). Its probably more for the banks internal checks and balances. they dont want to hand out cashiers cheques or put funds into 3rd party accounts etc. They will have a clear record of the transaction, the loan was funded into account X and the seller drew the money from account X. The account name is probably Trustee account for buyername/sellername.
  6. Depends on the immigration office, but usually a good idea to do the bank docs the same day as going to immigration. Go to the bank as it opens, immigration half hour later. Kor ror 2 get the day before. Other documents probably no time limit.
  7. Most warranties are between you and the manufacturer (unless it fails within a couple of days). The shop just acts as your agent in most instances. The shop isnt providing the warranty, doing the repair etc. Whether or not a warranty card gets returned doesnt matter much, the important thing is a proof of purchase date. I had a TV repaired on warranty recently, pulled out the warranty and the only thing on the card was a stamp from the shop verifying purchase date. The manufacturer, via their website, just wanted a copy of the purchase date, and then authorized a local shop to repair. Nowadays, internet connected devices like a laptop will do a phone home to start the warranty, as you turn it on. Something to be aware of if you buy display stock.
  8. Maybe read further on the same NRMA website. https://www.mynrma.com.au/travel/preparation/international-driving-permits The NRMA is making a statement that people often refer to an IDP as an international driving license, they are not saying it is a license. Elsewhere, on the same website, they state "No, there's actually no such licence", "an International Driving Permit (IDP) is an official document advising local authorities that you are licenced to drive in Australia", "An IDP is not a stand-alone document or a substitute for a valid driving licence. You must carry your Australian state/territory licence with your IDP at all times".
  9. I think you will find many shipping options are still very limited due to covid, and company's like DHL are price gouging. I tried to send a parcel a couple of times this year, only to be told no mail back and forth, or ridiculous prices. Have you considered treating yourself to business class, which usually gives you extra kilos luggage. It may work out cheaper per kilo than the post/freight options. Even excess baggage on the plane may be worth it as it done on weight, and clothes dont weigh much.
  10. The modern day equivalent is local Pattaya youtubers doing live streams. There are 3-4 of them that do it and get pretty big audiences. Discussions, viewers comment, ask questions etc. Its probably more open and free discussion than commercial radio.
  11. OP, I think your opening line sums up everything. Nobody even owns a radio anymore, its from another century (literally). Surprised you don't call it the wireless. Have you heard of podcasts, YouTube, Spotify, literally a whole world of media, information, entertainment at your fingertips. You get to choose what you listen to. One of my fears , as I grow older, is becoming that old guy at the pub moaning about "back in my day". Thanks for the timely reminder not to be that guy.
  12. I get the feeling its anyone who doesn't do conspiracy theories.
  13. Shutting down misinformation is not censorship. "doing your own research", until you find a conspiracy nut job who you agree with, isn't research, its justifying misinformation. If main stream media doesn't give objective representation to nut job conspiracy misinformation, that's actually a good thing.
  14. OP, you don't convert an international driving license (there is no such thing). You get a Thai license based on having , and showing, a home country license. The IDP document is so police, thai land transport etc, can understand your home license.
  15. You get an international driving permit (IDP), it is a document that accompanies your Oz license, so the local police can understand your oz license.
  16. That is an international driving permit, it accompanies your home country license as a translation document. There is no such thing as an international driving license.
  17. I will probably consider one of these. Now made in Thailand
  18. What time is the Jan 27th flight ? They could clear immigration before midnight on the 26th, and wait a few hours airside.
  19. How were you operating the FCD without a bank book ? I use an FCD but it has a book, otherwise how could the account be used.
  20. You can buy your daughter a house but you cant buy yourself a house in her name. You can buy as much custard as you like in your name.
  21. As far I know (and a google search shows same) the last amendments to the Condominium Act were 2008, and as you say, it says 3-9 committee members. Unless someone can produce or link to an amended Act, I think you can take it that the Act, amended in 2008, is still current. I imagine if any changes have happened, it would be mentioned. and the new act published on legal websites etc.
  22. Is it possible Lisa has purchased a microwave and now has a restaurant license ? The whole post is subject to that single comma above (between bar and restaurant) being in the correct place.
