  1. So a 1000 baht bottle of wine in the shops now will be reduced to 300 baht, i don't believe it.
  2. So the wine tax will ONLY be 200%, thanks for nothing.
  3. Is it worth the risk. Just get a bus to Angkor. There is nothing else to see in Cambodia.
  4. Basically they are just on line brothels. Personally i can't see the attraction in ordering up a total stranger, like a KFC, for ten minutes of fun.
  5. The problem is that people's idea of "surviving" has changed. My wife didn't work when we were bringing up children so we had to make sacrifices. Few foreign holidays, nights out etc. Now just "surviving" means 3 foreign holidays a year, 2 mobile phones, streaming tv and sky sports, 2-3 nights out a week, new leased BMW every 3 years. No wonder people can't "afford" to have children.
  6. How can a place with 1,000 customers be a "secret". Obvious they would be raided at some point.
  7. So we can forget about any young girls coming into the bars. The average age now is about 40, will creep upto 50.
  8. I use the Krungsri Mai Tai Dee acoount. Only pays 0.9% but acceptable to immigration, you get a normal savings account with debit card and bank book etc. Used to be a good rate when it was 0.1% back home.
  9. I doubt you would get 8% ROI. Just guessing you pay 3 million baht. Rent for 12,000 a month. By the time you have paid common fees etc and adjust for unoccupied periods you might only net 100,000 income a year - 3%, with no capital appreciation. Rents are cheap here.
  10. Personally i wouldn't try to upgrade an 8 year old laptop. Just get a new one with decent RAM and ROM a newish processor and W11. You can get them here 15-20,000 baht. If it lasts 8 years that's 6 baht a day ! Even i can afford that.
  11. So what's the alternative? Good luck getting a 48 sqm condo in the centre of Pattaya for 7-8000 a month, with a massive pool, loads of parking and low maintenance fees. I get the baht bus into town 2-3 times a week. OK the traffic is bad but it's only a 20 minute ride.
  12. I agree about Nirun, you couldn't pay me to live there. Don't agree about VT2 though, not isolated. On the baht bus route, easy to get to Jomtien or Pattaya. Foodmart just 100 yards away. Bus station 100 yards. Loads of bars restauatants with 400 yards. Short walk to the beach. VT2 is a great choice, at the lower end of the market.
  13. So is she happy to do the "male" tasks, painting, cut the grass, car maintenance, decorating etc. Or does the man have to do everything?
  14. The older condos never had units that small. Mine the lowest is 45 sqm, the same i think with places like the VTs. It is only the ones built after 2015 that have the dog kennels of sub 30 sqm.
  15. Zebra crossings are death traps, avoid them. I have nearly been run over twice crossing them.
  16. Did you get your own physical copy of the 2 season blurays in a boxed set? Thought not.
  17. Just got the Reacher Season 1 and 2 bluray from Blurayshop Lazada. They are great value here 160 baht compared to the rip off western prices. Great quality too and a great series.
  18. He's right, a car is just an asset anyone can own it. Driving it illegally that's another matter but many Thais do.
  19. It's not divided it's fully concentrated on their phone.
  20. Sure it is legal but they could make your life hell so you would be begging to leave.
  21. You think a piece of paper will help if the next owner wants you out?
  22. 5% is a joke here, for doing virtually nothing. One even used the photos i had taken ! In the UK i was used to paying 1-2% max. And for that they produced glossy brochures with photos and details of the property.
