earlier this year when I got mine from AIS, they say if it's not satisfactory when they go over the phone with me they'll open another box If studio 7 says they'll only assist in getting warranty work and not new replacement right away then yes it's pointless to inspect the phones with them

Story Of My Thai Citizenship Application
digbeth replied to dbrenn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
even if you don't have thai passport on hand, you can enter thailand with thai ID card, I don't see why one would use foriegn passport to enter Thailand if you have thai citizenship though i've seen thai born thais that has foreign passport use that to enter visa-excempt if they know they won't be staying long, often the thai passport is expired or whatever, but then if they exit thailand on the autogates, their foreign passport will be on overstay, or thai passport won't have exit stamp/ record which raises alarm bells next time they are at the border and some explanation -
Just because apple will accept repairs doesn't mean the shop selling it have to accept return for no reason, only at physical apple stores and online direct from apple is where they accept 14 days returns no question asks which is beyond the industry norms and legal requirement for Thailand, if you bought from a resellers like this, they're only obliged to send it in for repair, which is might not be what the customers expected as they heard you can return any apple products; which is not true- if you go up to apple's own store with products purchased elsewhere they best they'll do is replace it if it's defective or you have applecare, but to return and get a refund for no reason? no - imagine the typical thai customer - if they had a session of box opening, going through and makeing sure every thign works with the staff this do cut down on this somewhat
-
Only apple stores and online actually has return policy where you can actually return for no reason, so if you're buying cash with no carrier discount/plan it's best to get them direct from apple. only time there's a better deals from these resellers is when there's new model along and they have plenty of stock of the existing models lots of their customers do need help with setting it up and signing in to everything though, I remembered around the iphone 4 days getting it from true, that during the process of going through inspecting everythign from dead pixels to moisture detector in the port - if you reject one they'll just reset, wrap it up again for the next customer who might not be as critical

some dealers do sell whole bikes on shopping website like Shopee and Lazada, they're mostly in Bangkok, often even with cost of transport plus all the cash(non-finance) surcharge over MSRP local dealers like to put on, this could work out cheaper than going to your local dealer like Mityon who has near monopoly hold on Pattaya area

Low cost way to have a USA phone number
digbeth replied to JohnOFphon's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
while it's much easier to get a sim card like e-sim with us numbers from Thailand without even having to leave your house just activaste e-sim on your phone, the use case seem to be targeted towards travellers to the US if any of those sim supports wifi-calling it could work in Thailand without the need for roaming charge to use US number in Thailand -
just compare to london-singapore - similar distance and potential for connections around SEAsia and Australia is the price difference enough that it's cheaper to get extra leg by changing at singapore either on the same airline or low-cost airlines with all the inconvenience of re-checking baggage and waiting time for another flights - that's debatable If you don't fly from the big london airports, sometime it's more convenient to change in germany or middle east say if you fly from Manchester or Birmingham - the queues at immigration and car park at those airports are much bette than London too
-
the airlines are on the hook for sending you back if you were refused entry into a country, so it's understandable some staff might be over cautious, but it is rare that staff at the boarding gate will be raising this is unusual though, normally this would be handled at the check in desk, but for case wher passengers don't have luggage and print their own boarding pass there must be extra checks at the gate

Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport SAT-1 Terminal
digbeth replied to SingAPorn's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
If they have immigration/baggage claim in that building, aftere you've collected your bags how do you get to/from there without passing the existing terminal? you can't it's a satellite terminal, consider it a set of gates and lounge/waiting areas do you consider taking the escalator/moving walkway to the end of corridor to board a too tedious commute? Satellite terminals are hardly unique, there are plenty in Europe like Heathrow Terminal 5, Paris CDG -
where can you watch that film, never seen it on sale anywhere, even bootleg ones,

digbeth replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
at least she didn't sell out, I'm sure plenty of companies were offering to have her 'brand' be on a chain restaurant in malls the singaporean chicken rice guy sold out quite sucessfully we even had branches in Thailand for a while but now he's lost the star in his original restaurant too -
only some older or small condo buildings or private apartments would still be on adsl if the building is big enough to make it worth the isp investment, they'll usually wire fiber to the rooms themselves. in case where the isp don't see economic case they might offer to wire up to the rooms in exchange for exclusivity deal in that everyone in the building can only get internet from them My condo in Asok Bangkok didnt have fiber to the rooms untill about 4-5 years ago, ADSL2 was the best we could get, earlier than that there was also true's DOCSIS that comes through coax which they phased out There was a brief moment where 5g was starting to come along and we got 5g router and unlimited package for cheap, which was lots faster than ADSL, but then they start wiring fiber to the room and we're good by now 5g with unlimited internet is like 1000+baht a month which is too much

there's plenty of life insurance that'll only matures in 5, 10 years or even longer some will pay out interests and benefits every year if the insurance require annual payment of premiums, you can set up an account in your name and make a standing order to debit from that account and only you can touch that caveat is that the insurance can be cancelled early for some penalty like loss of capital or the holder can borrow against the insurnce.

Restaurants taking the biscuit, tax now per person charge !
digbeth replied to DonniePeverley's topic in General Topics
the issue with VAT and service chargd is that in shops like supermarkets and department stores, they can manage to include VAT in the price shown on shelves if they were to add 7% at the till there'll be public revolt restaurants are welcomed to add whatever percentage they want to make their overheads and pay staff, but not including in the price shown on menus is borderline deceptive - sayint it's industry practice doesn't help, it makes the price artificially low, but does it really? say a dish in a sit down restaurant is 220 on the menu, plus vat and service chage it comes to 257, would anyone balks at the price and walk away if it were listed as 260? by law they can get away with stating vat and service charge in a sign or on menus -
to be fair, every other day the past week see some very heavy downpours in inner Bangkok, it's so heavy I look out the window and can barely see the building across the street, so much that I'd thought the traffic will be pandemonium for evening rush hour due to floods, but the deluge and standing water in the street if there was any seem to disappear very quickly Even roads lik Chaeng Wattana which floods regularly seem to have things under control quciker than before

Does car insurance cover for vandalism?
digbeth replied to villageidiotY2K's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
their terminology is that there are 'fresh claims' and 'dry claims' fresh claims are claims are accidents that has other party and you call their agent to make a claim on the scene dry claims are claims with no party like scratches agaisnt walls, posts or where the other party can't be found - this is usually covered only in 1st class now it depends on how much does the + in your 2+ for second class plus includes, usually loss, fire and theft plus maybe extra injuries cover for you too - but stil require other party for damages for dry claim often there are excess payable or a 'fee' for the agent ot be creative in writing up the claim to include pre-existing damage, say you are on the threshold of your last year that the insurance company will cover your old 10+ years old car under 1st class, after which they'll kick you down to 2nd class, you might ask the agent to come over to submit a dry claim to get a once-over new lick of paint for your delapidated old car, for a 'fee' as you actually haven't had an accident per se -

ask for full VAT reciept, if they can't produce it they're not actually submitting their VAT to the taxman, and can be reported telltale sign that they don't actually submit their tax is that even their small reciept do not have their tax ID number printed on -
not sure if it's related to the royal barge procession or not but the Sane Saeb canal level has been kept low for lot of the past week, meaning no boat service west of Pratunam Pier for many days, or maybe they anticipated the peak high tide and rain together and pumped put water for that
